In a thriller that went down to the final shot, Baskonia edged Real Madrid 98-96 at Buesa Arena on Friday. Baskonia, which has no chance of reaching the postseason, improved to 11-24 in the standings after registering its 10th home win of the season. Real Madrid dropped to 22-13 having registered its sixth loss in its last seven road games.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot led the winners with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Kobi Simmons and Mamadi Diakite each added 21 points while Eugene Omoruyi had 15 for Baskonia, which tied an all-time EuroLeague record with 8 three-point shots made in the first quarter. Facu Campazzo led Real with 21 points and 9 assists. Mario Hezonja added 17 points, Sergio Llull 12, Gabriel Deck 11 and Walter Tavares 10 for Los Blancos. Tavares added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Simmons hit the go-ahead free throws with 1.9 seconds left before Llull missed from way downtown at the buzzer.
