He's a great defender and disruptor.
But his feel for the game is probably his most underated trait right now.

I think the rest of the world is seeing how this team is built and why there wasn't a splash trade at the deadline. Guys on this team step up and adapt. Ausar Thompson is so much fun to watch. 100% max effort and incredible feel of the game. He does the little things that add up to be HUGE.
Ausar said it himself “I bring winning wherever I go.” True words spoken by one of the most Elite players I’ve ever seen.
But believe me, real basketball fans/players most definitely talk about Ausar Thompson. The NBA is also aware of his elite talents, thus awarding him 2 DPOM awards so far. I’m sure he’ll get more because, he said it himself that he wants more!

I keep saying Ausar understanding on defense is comparable to the the sweet science of boxing the way he predicts players intentions while baiting them
Think about this… in a basketball era where defense and contact are severely hand cuffed…butter and cream of the game is to have as many scorers and 3 points shooters as you can. the Pistons sometimes play Thompson and Holland together … that’s how good Ausar is creating winning basketball out of defense, not offense.

I love Ausar so much! Such a fun player to watch. It’s crazy to me that JB Bickerstaff only plays him for 25 min a game on avg and he makes such a massive impact in that time
2:04 it is wild the fouls they don’t call on Duren, and after the OKC game and the whistle that SGA gets… c’mon man.
As a Pistons fan, I think that we have 2 of the top 3 defenders in the league in AT and Stew. Wemby is Wemby, but besides him, those 2 affect winning on the defensive end more than any other players in the league.

Ausar is awesome. It’s a pity that he can’t shoot even a little bit, but everything else is elite.
The league can keep sleeping 😴 💤 once he develops his mid range shot more or god forbid a 3 point shot it is over.
AUSAR! One of the best defenders in the league! I guess so much emphasis is placed on DJ's play that Ausar is not mentioned. But Pistons fans know Ausar is optimum to the Pistons going far in the post season. Let's admit it, Detroit's defense is so deep! But we see you Ausar, we see you! You need to be acknowledged more !
