Billy is tanking. When you play minutes with Sexton, Giddey, and Jones, with Miller, and P-Will, you are not trying to win NBA games.
CHGO is trying to create separation for him, saying he's the ultimate competitor and trying to win, when clearly post deadline, they're trying to stay in the lotto. It's a lie a best, but it might be they actually don't know what's happening.
Same thing when you try to read which players are long term fits. What does Legs think of Billy deleting the mid-range? The entire rest of the league is trending back. Does he know that's dumb, or part of the soft tank?
The answer to what you'd put around Giddey is the same thing you'd put around any great playmaker. Look at our favorite point guards throughout NBA history. That's what the answer is.
The whole best player, 3rd best player isn't the correct way to view NBA. It's five positions. Same reason you surround Hali with d (so not the team Bulls using post deadline), and Cade with Thompson/Duren, and shooters.
CHGO is a bad resource for understanding the league.

You need a guy that can take that high difficulty late clock shot, I'm not sure I agree the Bulls need an elite 1 on 1 player otherwise.
Steve Nash won 2 MVPs because he was so good at being an offensive engine.
Giddey's got some of that in his game, compared to Nash he could be more dangerous as a shooter, and that would make playmaking easier if defenses guarded him tighter.
Personally, I think you just go with Giddey and Matas and surround them with quality defensive players, ideally that can also space the floor, and take a few dribbles if needed.
If it doesn't work out, you can usually find offense in free agency, or by trading some young pieces.
There's some bigs in this draft that have unicorn potential, seems like most college bigs now at least shoot a little bit.
Getting an all around franchise cornerstone big would be ideal, but if there's a two way guard that might work, too.
Giddey has a unique skillset. He doesn't always give his best – for different reasons.

Again way too much focus on Josh's input, which is just shy of a 20 point trip double and not enough focus on a lack of talent across the board. They need a superstar PF and Centre…..they dont have it not by a long shot.

What do the Bulls need in the Donovan era? Simple: a real rim‑runner, a veteran floor general, and a half‑court bucket‑getter.
The 2026 roster has length, pace, and creators… but no vertical threat, no stabilizer when Giddey sits, and no closer when the game slows.
This team is one piece away from having an actual identity. Let’s see if the front office sees it too.

The 2026 Bulls under Billy Donovan have a clear profile: multiple ball‑handlers, switchable wings, and tons of pace.
What they don’t have:
• A true rim‑running big to unlock the guards
• A veteran organizer for the second unit
• A physical scorer who can create in the half court
Add those three pieces, and this roster finally makes sense.

The Bulls’ 2026 needs in the Donovan era:
1️⃣ A real lob‑threat big
2️⃣ A steady veteran PG
3️⃣ A half‑court scorer who can close games
The talent is there. The identity isn’t—yet.

Hell yeah Legler lets focus on 1 on 1 shot creation offense while we are a bottom five defensive team that survives off the fast break. Oh yeah and Billy is an absolute rocket scientist who’s had 1 positive record in what 6 seasons? Legler apparently wants ten more years of this, oh yeah and let’s bring back players like Derozen and Lavine for 1 on 1 shot creation bc that’s what our offense thrives off of definitely not pace and ball movement.

Billy is a horrible nba coach. He’s had several different team composition- fire him
Giddey is putting up Magic Johnson type numbers, he's as cerebral as they come, and he gets better every year. He will soon be an all-star, and will ultimately become a major playoff contributor.
They need a lot: size, defense, scorers. Giddey is good, for a skinny dishrag. He goes into traffic and gets brushed aside and bumped to the floor. He could add muscle and weight and not lose a step. This offseason: 5 new players plus Giddey grows into his frame.
Not a chance the first thing I would look to pair with Giddey or Matas is an ISO scorer etc. I'd want people who can spot up shoot, cut well, pass even and most importantly defend and run the floor.
The rest can pair with them.
Giddey is so good with mobile centres that are more Chet like of a direction. I don't even like Claxton but even he pairs better wth Giddey stylistically as a good rim protector that can run. Loosely as Claxton still overrated

Josh Diddy isn’t a franchise player,i probably could beat him,dude is trash.
17 points, 8.5 boards, 9 assists – gets players the ball where they like to have it. Josh is comfortably more than twice the player Legler ever was.
