How Far Away Are the Portland Trail Blazers from Being a Top-6 Team?

How Far Away Are the Portland Trail Blazers from Being a Top-6 Team?

The Blazers took a couple of tough defeats to the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs, two of the NBA’s best teams. While we shouldn’t be happy about the losses, we weren’t expected to win either. They served more as litmus tests to show that if the Blazers get fully healthy, and add Damian Lillard back next year, they can hang and give them a run for their money.

  1. Starting the 4th quarter if we would of slowed down took our time each possesion and ran the best play for who's on the court we could of won that nuggets game. And deny jokic the ball

  2. When yang starts dumping spin moves and dumbass post dimes on an nba level next year youll shut up about it

hes gonna be squatting 600 this offseason and all the sudden

the ccp probably gonna hit him with a peptide cocktail lowkey

  3. Theres some depth but its a very unbalanced roster. Ive never been into the whole 2 timelines thing. It barely worked for the Warriors and for the most part those young pieces didnt really contribute much towards their championship in 2022. Plus this team is such a bad shooting team and Dame isnt going to fix all of that. We definitely arent on Minnesotas level even with Dame.
Them losing rather easy to the Spurs without Wemby and Castle is just another example that getting that 7th or 8th seed isnt a big deal. Whats the real experience in getting swept by San Antonio or OKC? The team would be much better off if they keep their first rounder in a really really talented draft. What has Scoot or Shaedon really proved in this league? Scoot hasnt shown that hes a starting caliber player part of that is injuries but alot of it is him just underperforming and not being a good fit. Then theres Shaedon, he obviously has star talent but does he really want it? Its been 4 years and he hasn't become stronger and the jumper and handle really hasnt improved much since he was a rookie. He defers too often and of course we know the best ability is availability and Shaedon is injury prone. Are we sure that Shaedon isnt gonna become a more streaky Zach Lavine? The front office shouldnt resign Scoot , I dont blame them for resigning Shaedon and the deal is fine but man hopefully he improves next year cause hes getting pretty close to that Jalen Green, Cam Thomas tier

  4. I get the optimism for next year but 50 wins seems like a reach. Especially since a lot of credit for our current season has to do with the fact that the bottom of the west was garbage and a lot of teams were underwhelming. It might not be the case next season (mavs, clippers, jazz, will 100% be better, maybe even the grizzlies and depending on what the warriors do this offseason, they'll be better too). I think we lowkey benefited from this generational draft since everyone was so desperate to get the best pick possible, it opened up a lane for us to be this good

  5. Don't be delusional your starting five against the Spurs without Wemby and Castle is still not in the same talent level than the Texans. Your best player is a free throw merchant and a fake All Star, he's valuable only because his contract not his game, like Sengun, he's not a true franchise player and your second best player is a Belgian defensive oriented player.
Don't fool yourself your team is not ready to compete next season without big adjustments
