Evaluating Memphis Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo’s first full season

1. I’m not sold!! Way too many double digit leads ended in a loss.

2. He sucks for us. Team in turmoil. His philosophy doesn’t work with the players we have. Wish we could have gotten Mike Malone

3. His philosophy works better for overseas basketball where he came from ,that mess doesn't work in the NBA. Dude is a bum and hes NOT an NBA coach! Kleiman hiring him without even interviewing any other candidates was also extremely ridiculous!

4. He traded our 2 all stars and has not won anything to be able to call out the greatest grizzly player ever and with his coaching style no players will get 30 minutes. Let alone 30 points. It’s like soon as you get hot he subs you out horrible coaching.

5. Fire him. His system is terrible and doesn’t allow for players to build their metrics through minutes. The best players in the league play 35 + minutes a game.

14. If this system works without having an all star shot creater, we got to have an incredible ball handler and passer to rack up assists at point guard. Is Scottie Pippen Jr gonna be that? Didn't see him much this year. The scouting better be on point for this draft and the training staff needs to keep guys healthy. Morant, Clarke, and Santi probably need to be traded.

16. I read these comments and get the impression that y'all think that basketball is an individual sport.
    That the point and the NBA way is about focusing on individual stars and individual stats and little more.
    The point of basketball is winning games and championships.
    This is what Tuomas is about. This is the foundation he's building. A championship foundation.
    This is what Memphis lacked under Jenkins. It was a house of cards with no foundation. No accountability. Momentary flashes and enough individual talent to win some regular season games but not even close to enough when push came to shove. A new foundation was needed.

    Memphis is not an attractive destination for free agents and stars so the Grizzlies cannot compete with other teams there, which means that another approach was necessary.

    Tuomas' System is absolutely perfect for Memphis. It removes the reliance on superstars that we can't get anyway, and focuses on teamwork and grit. On building a collective of Dogs that play hard every second of every game and outhustle their opponents.
    This would appear to be perfectly in line with Memphis values, but people can't see it because they seem to be too focused on flashy stars that don't help the team be successful.

    Y'all will just have to get over it. The Grizzlies are about playing winning basketball now, not flashy but hollow circus tricks. There's a real foundation and direction now, and real championship potential. It's not going to happen overnight, but it is happening. Just not in the way you're used to.
    When we have our actual players back and start winning, people will forget about their old ideas of what things should look like.

17. He is very smart, but has no awareness and feel for situational subs and timeouts. Most frustrating coach I’ve watched here.

22. Trade Ja for Levine ( expiring contract & will be playing to get paid). I’d like to see Edey lose 20lbs of fat. Draft a PF & a PG. Trade CCP & 3 2nds for Herb Jones. Elite defensive Player. Rookie, Coward, Herbert Jones, Rookie, Edey.

25. Hot take when they move the team he will no longer be apart of the organization. I believe he was hired to tank the team and loose the fan base. Klimen can say " aahhh the guy has won everywhere else i that he'd win here too. When in reality anyone close to or in memphis for any amount of time knows we do attend loosing sports fanchises. We have to believe we have a chance to win, we've had that for the past 15 years.

26. Iisoalo was not the right coach for a playoff winning team. I thought Memphis ceiling before the season began was play-in. 2nd problem there wasn't continuity within his staff, Iisoalo didn't bring any other assistance with him. The track record with European coaches being successful in the NBA is not high. The best out of a bunch is 2016 David Blatt (Cavs) and you have Mike D'Antoni that couldn't get over the hump.
    Now Iisoalo will get a 3rd year. I perfer Billy Donovan who can come in with a staff and system. That can focus our players developing and not the head coach's development. We haven't seen Iisoalo with a winning team playing playoff basketball. That is where you want to see your coach excel, but we are waiting & hoping that Iisoalo can figure out the regular season and how to get to the playoffs.

27. TI is a good coach.

    Draft Karim Lopez, Jayden Q, or Morez Johnson

28. Who knows if he’s good or bad or if Jenkins suddenly got bad. This is the most injured team I’ve ever seen. For me I’d take any Michigan big but now if yaxel isn’t available aday mara is very smart very tall and maybe needed for backup or just for any insurance against wemby. And Spanish , we have have several from Spain.
