The Miami Heat May Have a Kel’el Ware Decision Coming

Kel’el Ware might be the Miami Heat’s most fascinating offseason question. Wes Goldberg and David Ramil take a deep dive into Ware’s potential, what he showed as a rookie, and how high his ceiling could really be.

Could Ware eventually become a top-10 center in the NBA? The guys compare him to the league’s best bigs, including Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Chet Holmgren, Bam Adebayo, Evan Mobley, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Duren, Alperen Sengun, Rudy Gobert, Joel Embiid, Jarrett Allen and more.

Then, Wes and David discuss how Erik Spoelstra should use Ware next season if he remains on the roster. Does Spo need to adjust his coaching approach to maximize Ware’s development? And how would Ware fit next to Bam Adebayo long term?

Finally, they break down Ware’s trade value. Which players should the Heat be willing to include Ware for? Can Miami afford to trade him? And if the Heat can’t land a star, should they pivot toward building around Ware as part of the next core?

  1. I'm in the minority but we're seeing those draft notes in real time. At times, Ware just doesn't care…lackluster, unmotivated. Those things are there. However, he is my second favorite player on the team and I wish he would be more consistent. Sadly, I just don't see it happening.

  2. A factor that you guys haven't mentioned about what makes Ware scary, he is his size and has a vertical jump that 7 footers basically never have.

  3. Wes must have forgotten early in the season when ware was starting because of injuries and was doing great that all other teams were saying they want ware in any package. And then when said injured players came back not only did spo remove ware from the starting line up but completely cut his minutes & role, that’s terrible coaching imo. That’s what started the whole feud between ware & spo, and ware definitely had the right to be upset.

  4. Remember Spo played Rozier in the most clutch minutes of the entire team?!? Stop acting like Spo doesn’t make MASSIVE mistakes

  5. 6:27 Yeah let’s not disrespect Myles Turner here… He isn’t already better than Myles Turner? He WILL & CAN. But let’s not disrespect the on court IQ of Myles Turner & his 3 pointer is far better.

Kel’El Ware has crazy amount of potential. He can 100% become a top 5-7 Center in the league based off the names that were named. Can 100% become better than what KAT is now by the time Ware is KAT’s age..

  6. Haven't finished the episode yet. But to answer what kind of player he can become: realistically speaking I think if he tops out at the Milwaukee bucks version of brook Lopez when he was anchoring a championship defense and spacing the floor. That's a damn good and impactful player. It'll be nice to see if he can progress to something more but I think brook Lopez is a good comp.

  7. What Ware session???!!! like are you guys from a whole new Planet?? 😮 Pat Riley a Big Man stan and I'm one myself the NBA going back to the Big this time it's not the brusier that camps out in middle it's the Unicorn, the Ware, Wemby , types,..it's not too many bigs that have the talent these 2 poses it's reason why teams keep asking bout Him..?? . I get it you gotta have Content, but Man let's Brig facts all this Chasing Old Whales, every year,. Ware potential one of the only big on the Earth that can face Wemby on the Planet

  8. what gets to me is how can the heat even allow him to not be untouchable when you literally only have 2 true bigs on the roster & one of them is a natural pf(bam),but yet he is constantly the first mentioned in trade rumors,I understand that heat only have so much assets but just ware having a untapped potential should make him more then untouchable,at this point,I know it ain’t the popular option, but I am staying pat this year, maybe some minor trades like a herro, powell or wiggins trade, but build around ware, bam, kas, jjj, pelle & the 13th pick & who ever we get for those aforementioned players also don’t sleep on our second round pick
