He might just not really know how to say “JaVale”. I’m 100% he’s seen the name written down before. Sort of seems like he’s saying “JoVelle” and is being corrected. Dude still doesn’t really speak English well (not that JaVale is an English word).

its clearly an accent thing. you think he has no idea what his name is and guesses joel? or you think he thinks its embiid?, if you listen you can hear him pronounce the v wrong

He’s pronouncing the V as a W kinda like Nowitzki, makes sense considering where he’s from. So he’s really saying JaWale not Joel.
