The Philadelphia 76ers livestreamed their training camp practice this week, and it gave incredible insight to what it’s like at an NBA practice. There was a lot to breakdown, and a lot to like, but one thing that concerned me was Joel Embiid. Embiid is the best player on this Sixers roster, and quite frankly, he didn’t look like it.

we talkin bout practice
Yo this is what i learned from watching basketball over the years.
1. Every superstar has flaws on the court some physical others mental except maybe mj or prime kobe.
2. You need to build a team around a players flaws. For example lebron couldnt close he needed closers like dwade and kyrie. Giannis cant shoot surround him with shooters and ball handlers
3. Embiid is up there with guys like hakeem, mj, and kobe where he doesnt have many flaws but his glaring weakness has always been his body language and non basketball related leadership qualities. Thats why you have to surround him with outgoing personalities, dogs, and mentally tough players. Unfortunately its just what it is.
Now that my Celtics are for sure going to have a bad season, I expect the 76ers to fill in and at least make the ECF if not the Finals.
Clickbaitism! 🤮
Was he really joking when he said he stayed in bed all off season?? We really never seen too much footage of him working out and harden said embiid wouldn't come and work out with them in LA soooo idk
It looked to me like Joel was the lightest on his feet I've seen since his rookie year – especially on defense.
Further, the man had an ORBITAL FRACTURE (through no fault of his own), and had surgery on two fingers in the off-season. Running around to get in shape while you've got an ORBITAL FRACTURE is a great way to end up with impaired vision. Don't let the TNT basketball pseudo gods fool you. What Joel did in playing against miami even while getting smacked in the face was otherworldly.
Also, Embiid knows his body well enough after all these years. The man has overcome "another Greg Oden" status to become a top ten player in the league. I'm not worried about him panting during training camp.
If anything I gained respect for him watching that practice because I realised how much pain he's had to endure to even be in this league, let alone be at the top. Just in that practice alone he came down wrong on his foot and hobbled to the sideline and then he got smacked in the face by Trezz while fighting for a rebound. This is a guy who has had TWO ORBITAL FRACTURES. AND THAT'S JUST PRACTICE!!!
I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish by making this upload but all you've succeeded in doing is showing how out of touch and unrealistic your perspective is. It's easy to talk from the comfort of your crib.
The really disappointing thing about this upload is you didn't even offer any basketball knowledge or entertainment value. You just offered an uninspired, whiny pampered baby take. Please, step it up if you're going to criticize. 🏀🏀🏀
Joel calls for the ball way too much… If this was 2k his teammate rating will go lower😭
We're talking about practice…not a game…not a game…practice…We're talking about practice…🤣
Too early to fret. It's only PRACTICE….lol
Your perspective is very refreshing!!! Embiid should be held to thee highest standards/expectations and it's probably just the lack of those standards that breeds complacency. My Biggest problem w/Embiid is his body language. That's the area he needs to desperately Improve on. You're The Leader & teammates will pick up on your behavior and negative energy.
Ngl the real concern is that the 76ers NET Rating is far higher when Maxey and Tobias don't play than when they do play. Last season, their NET Rating was 140 PPG without Maxey and Tobias and only 123 PPG with those two. You can't win with players that make us worse and Maxey and Tobias atm are that as both had a negative NET Rating for us last season.
Will see how he plays when the season starts. We can judge him right now
Joel said he don't need to practice like Iverson.
I think he mad that other centers getting paid way more money even though he is better than them.
You scaring me rn bro and embiid was getting pushed the whole time let’s not lie, Reed can be a lockdown for us but in reality he really be fouling but it’s cool cause he’s on our team
Appreciate the criticism of this guy…. I'm say it for U he's a bad leader it's obvious
Your a dope
How come you didn't show no video of any of your accusations? This is why so many athletes hate playing in Philadelphia Y'all have to find something to b** and moan about Man up
Just our luck we get the best squad around him and he start falling off smh. He said he didn’t work this summer I believe him..
Overhyping the shit out of this man
So you watch every practice then? How was this one practice compared to all of last year's practices or the year before?
Stop complaining about Joel he’s fine
I never worry about Embiid turning it on when the season starts and don’t judge anything I see in practice. He’s proven to me that when the lights turn on and it’s go time he will show up!!
Take this ridiculous post down.
Your just nick picking. You do realize he got 2 surgeries during the off season.
I understand what you saying brother but honestly it don’t matter lol. We not winning without Joel. We can complain and all that but when I comes gam-time Joel puts his life on the line. It’s not reason for him to go hard in practice. We know what he can do. He not tryna earn a spot. I rather him be lazy in practice. Lower risk in getting hurt
A smart basketball team would trade Embiid for Zion.
