[Bondy] Jeremy Lin on whether Carmelo Anthony’s jealousy pushed him out of New York: “I can’t feed the speculation train because I don’t actually know. I know, & I’m saying this truthfully, that there were multiple points of opposition completely outside of Melo within what was going on”

Jeremy Lin on whether Carmelo Anthony’s jealousy pushed him out of New York:

>”I mean, I think that’s… that’s the theory, and that’s what everyone says, but I can’t feed the speculation train because I don’t actually know. I know, and I’m saying this truthfully, that there were multiple points of opposition completely outside of Melo within what was going on, and once D’Antoni resigned, there was already opposition within the organization-whether it was the coaching staff that took over or certain members of the front office. But there was definitely, from what I’ve heard or gathered in the few years after, it wasn’t all as rosy as people thought it was. I don’t know who to attribute it to, but I know there were multiple points of opposition.”

it was a good decision for the knicks to let lin go, but melo gets clicks

“Melo ruined Jeremy Lins career” is one of my least favorite takes

The Knicks ruined Melos career so this is a pretty valid take by Lin given the dysfunction within the franchise

Dude was a backup level pg with bad knees who had a hot 2 weeks and fell off. I’m not denying that he faced hardships and racism at all, but he wasn’t pushed out of the league because of it.

Nobody was trying to pay that ridiculous contract at the time.

We hear so much about/from Lin about his career. He was good, not great so it’s just funny to me. Imagine getting a quarterly update from Jerryd Bayless about why he doesn’t think he fulfilled his potential

  7. Allowing poison pill contracts and making their cap hit different for each team is why. The Arenas rule is silly.

Lin picked up 25 million from the Rockets and proceeded to have a very successful career over the next decade. Also was able to walk out of the league with ring, which is something Melo still hasn’t been able to do.

People who want to say Melo ruined Lin’s career are idiots. With or without the Knicks, Lin was given more opportunity to shine than what 99% of the league ever will. If Lin was going to be a superstar, then he would have been. Melo did nothing to impede Lin’s success in any way. If anything, Linsanity never even happens without Melo because it was him that first pushed the coach to play him. And it was Lin that first pointed that fact out. After New York, it was Lin’s job to make himself be a star. It didn’t happen for him, but he still again managed to have a very respectable career that ended in a championship. Literally nothing else that him or any fan of his could ask for.

Jeremy lin had a good streak. He was never this top player. Hot take Raymond Felton was 2x the player he was and got like 1/5 the press.

Edit: to the downvotes. Took a look at the stats. Career average, and peaks on the knicks has Felton beating him. Points, assists, etc.

  12. What exactly did Jeremy Lin have that would make someone like a perennial all-star and scoring champion prime Carmelo Anthony jealous of…?
