    Andrews is what happens when networks decide to go modern, and hire more for looks than anything else. She appeals to a deomgraphic who may not care about what she says (they way she purses her lips when she's not talking on NBA Today drives me nuts). My guess is that execs though Rachel Nichols was too old for a hip, modern demographic, and decided to mess with her gig, even though she had a contract.
