[Bobby Portis] As previously tweeted in my last tweet, I got 8 games for defending myself. It’s a lot different IMO. Stop dragging my name in this.

Bobby chimes in on the Draymond punch situation.

The picture he attached to his tweet is from a Woj article that states

>Mirotic charged at Portis twice before Portis threw a punch and connected with Mirotic’s face, league sources said. Mirotic dropped to the floor and lay there for several minutes before getting up.

Obviously Bobby’s punch had a much worse outcome, but it does make a difference imo that he was not the aggressor in his fight while Draymond was.

Draymond Green was defending his potential contract extension

  2. Bflatsharpeleven

Excuse me, Dray was defending himself. His ego and desire for attention were under attack, and he defended them.

Bobby Portis: “I can’t let you get close”

You’d have to be dumb as hell to punch Crazy Eyes

What’s “I got 8 games for defending myself.” mean?

  6. RayTracingOn

Dray was defending his tiny ass fragile ego.

  7. DynamixRo

Jokic used the Portis Defense on Morris with even greater success.

Bobby “keep my name outta your fucking mouth” Portis

  9. fuckitiroastedyou

Seems unlikely that the Bulls would suspend him and not the aggressor, but what do I know.

Well Dray has always been great on defense so he was just practicing his offensive skills

  11. Well, Bobby now isn’t the last nba player that punched his teammate.

  12. Ticonderoga2HB

Yea this is a little more apples to oranges

  13. chastenbuttigieg

Mirotic had no sanctions by the team, people were saying he was acting like a dick but no one has said he hit Bobby first.

Why are we taking Bobby Portis’ word here? He’s the guy who broke the other guy’s face.

  15. TreeBearOne

..if someone coming at you is grounds for self defense then poole should have thrown a punch when dray came at him, right?

  16. I have a feeling this isn’t the whole story. Why was Mirotic so pissed off that he kept charging Portis?

“Obviously Bobby’s punch had a much worse outcome”

how is that obvious to you? the video showed JP got knocked out and fell down too. what information do you have that no one else does?

  18. MisterDisinformation

I’m glad Bobby responded to some of those Tweets (provided it’s actually true that Mirotic deserves a significant share of the blame), but I also don’t think the reporters really deserve any criticism. At the end of the day, it’s still the most relevant comparison that can be given, and it can be dicey for reporters to litigate situations like assigning responsibility in a physical conflict when there’s very limited and murky public info.

yeah but what if Poole was making fun is Klutchmond’s BFF rich paul and bron?!

  20. hail2022

I think draymond should get 15 games but I doubt the nba intervenes and I doubt the warriors give draymond a strict punishment

Bobby Portis should watch this video.

John Paxson said they had to suspend Portis because he threw a punch, suggesting that Mirotic didn’t get suspended simply because he didn’t get the chance to break Bobby’s arm with an armbar. Paxson also said the result of the injuries are the reason the team took this position.

So, Bobby Portis is saying that, now, Draymond Green should be suspended (if the Warriors use the same rules as the Bulls) for throwing a punch. He is also trying to make it clear that he felt like he had to throw a punch to protect himself. I believe him about that, but he is wrong about whether that matters (assuming same rules between these franchises). The Bulls were about the injury and the punch, not about right and wrong. Here, there is a punch and (so we hear) no injury, so not quite the same.

  22. Finger_Gunnz

We’re using your suspension as a base line. Get over yourself.

  23. OhNoItsTheLakeShow

Should be at least 20 games tbh (and even that isn’t enough), but it’ll probably be some whack amount like 4-6, a public apology, everyone from Poole to Lacob saying it’s over with, and an eventual trade for either Green or Poole. Honestly this opens up the door for a Poole + Wiseman + Kuminga or picks for Brad Beal trade if the Wizards suck again (they’d be dumb not to tank this year)

  24. razorsharppillows

But Bobby set the standard for the market when it came to teammate punches

  25. panda_gravy

“League sources” were also trying to downplay the Draymond punch before the video leaked. Just saying.

  26. Embarrassed_Tackle_5

He have the inside the nba talking about that punch

  27. docc2183

Why do I remember that it was Markkanen that he punched?
