He has the wingspan and the athlecism to at least be effective as a defensive playmaker which is way more then he’s been thusfar in his career. And he’s gonna have to do it if he actually wants to play given how many guards they have

I always get encouraged by players who say stuff like this. Defense being one area you can perform better by just trying harder. Guys who are lazy on transition defense are irritating af.

He has the athletic potential to be a good defender but he’s just clueless about where to be. His man defense is pretty decent though

Truthfully I have barely watched Lonnie but I have loved him since he came in the league and always follow his stats, I hope he has a nice break out year on both ends
No disrespect to Ham by any means but makes me laugh that Lonnie has been one of the worst defenders in the league since he’s joined, is going to learn how to play defense under Ham like Pop doesn’t know how to teach defense. I’m a huge fan of Lonnie and he’s not even that terrible of a one on one defender but good lord he is one of the worst team defense players of all time. Has no idea what’s hes doing out there
The only thing stopping Lonnie from being a 20+ppg scorer and best finishers in the league is his brain. Zero BBIQ and feel for the game
