Hmm, Nas not being ready to start is kinda bad. Feels like a make or break season for him and this is a not ideal start
This also makes our bench worse.

And I’m okay with this decision.

Yikes. We really repeating last year. Having to waste someone’s talents playing them out of position

Sounds like Nas is taking longer to return to form than the team thought. Pretty disappointing but hopefully he gets plenty of opportunity to earn the spot back, I really think this team would work best with him starting at the 3.
le_maitres_du_temps
I think this is smart for several reasons. His rip and run offense adds another dimension to the starting lineup. Think that could really help us out as we have tended to be a stagnant starting team. He’s the best all around player that we could start at the 3. Our front court has decent size for once which should help make up for the lack of size at the guard and wing. You can stagger minutes and still have multiple ballhandler/ offense initiator types (Dame, Ant, Hart) at any given time. Also helps build his trade value if he isn’t in long term plans (I hope he is but as they say, “it’s a business”).

Makes sense. Nas hasn’t showed anything this off season that proves he should start over Josh. Until he does, he’ll be fine coming off the bench.
lunes_azul
He’s the best player on the roster that can sensibly start at SF. Not an ideal fit but he’s more well-rounded and talented than Winslow or Little. I imagine he will be staggered to take guard minutes, too.

I’m fine with it. Hart is a really talented player. it’s pretty cool that are starting 5 consist of guys that can either start or play significant minutes on a another contending team.
Comfortable_Chain459
I’m over it. He’s a shooting guard. We need a proper sized lineup imo. Oh well

i thought justise looked pretty good with the starters in terms of just kind of connecting everything, but hard to play him and nurkic significant minutes together and still have enough spacing. i’m hoping nassir rounds into form and takes the starting three, but JH is fairly solid
rock-or-something
I was really gunning for nas to win the spot but jacked Ramsay’s gave a good take that the second unit is a good place for nas to thrive and grow. Unlike Terry, Chauncey is down to roll with the hot hand and play the dudes who are earning it. And Nas growing into a reliable bench threat is not at all a bad thing.
Damezang
Makes a lot of sense especially with Nas still ramping up his playing time after multiple injuries he’s been healing from. Think a lot of us have interesting perspectives on shorter forwards from starting Roco and Powell at the 3 and 4, but Grant and Hart are going to look dramatically different. This gives Nas room to grow into his role and time to develop naturally. Will be interesting to see how minutes are staggered too, Nas and Winslow might still get significant time with Dame etc. Hart might be an important part of our long term roster if this can work.
blinkomatic
So I’m guessing there’s might be a larger split of ant and Dame not being on the court at the same time. I thought Hart would be running the second unit.

Ultimately this will only be a glaring issue in a few specific matchups. Hopefully by the time the playoffs come, Nas will have taken the job, where his size/strength will be more important.

That’s not ideal

I’m so hyped for this season.

This is not great, miss Nas isn’t where he needs to be. 3 guard lineup bb!
Orwell1971
“This season” is presumptious. He’s been named the starter to start the season. What happens as the season goes along is open ended.

This was pretty obvious…How else were we gonna give our lottery pick more minutes?

It’s an okay choice. Wouldn’t be surprised to have someone else start by the end of the season. I also thought that Justise played very well

Oof for Nas.
He’s won the starting spot, and my Hart.
