[Brian Lewis] KD on how to keep Ben Simmons confident: “Trust in him, pass him the ball, tell him be aggressive…(But) Im not here to babysit anybody. Ben knows that. If he’s got a time to be aggressive go be aggressive. Who gives a sh1t if you miss it? We like you being aggressive.” #Nets

Jimmy Butler said this in 2019: [source](https://www.inquirer.com/sixers/ben-simmons-sixers-76ers-raptors-game-4-draft-workouts-20190506.html?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar)

>“If you ask Ben, I told Ben every time down the floor to attack. Every single time,” Jimmy Butler said. “I’m cool with if Coach calls a play and you feel like you’ve got the mismatch, by all means attack and Coach will be like ‘why did you do it?’ And I promise you I will say I told him to do it.

>“I want Ben to be aggressive, just like I told Jo [Joel Embiid] to be aggressive. Attack.”

>Butler told the Sixers’ two young stars the team won’t win without them. That’s why he wants Simmons to be ready to attack at any point in time.

>”‘Ben, don’t pass the ball in transition,’ ” Butler said. ” ‘Attack every single time. That’s how we’re going to win this game.’”

>Simmons was asked to assess his shot selection in Sunday’s loss.
“It was OK,” he said.

Embiid said this in 2021 : [source](https://www.inquirer.com/sixers/ben-simmons-sixers-aggressiveness-joel-embiid-pelicans-20210411.html?utm_source=t.co&utm_campaign=edit_social_share_twitter_traffic&utm_medium=social&utm_content=&utm_term=&int_promo=)

>After the game Embiid was asked if would like to see Simmons scoring a little more.
>“Oh yeah, for sure,” said Embiid, who scored 27 points in his fourth game back after missing 10 due to a left knee bone bruise. “First of all, I want him to be aggressive every single game, whether he is making plays or whether he should look for his shot, he has to be aggressive and make guys on the other team guard him.”

Kd gonna be so sick of this shit by game 10. He’s not gonna be anywhere near as patient as embiid

  2. LemonPepper-Lou

This team is wither going to light the league up, or crash and burn…either way, it’s going to be glorious!

  3. CoolBeansChemist

This is what the 76ers tried to get him to do except he kept disappearing for multiple quarters and games at a time doing nothing on offense.

I feel like everyone feels this way but if Ben turns out to be a problem.. hopefully he would have gotten his trade value up enough to dump him by the deadline if that’s what it comes down to

This ain’t Philly. You’ll be moved with the quickness if it means getting us a center and maybe a role player or so. I think most nets fans don’t stress on Ben for this very reason.

  5. >> We like you being aggressive.” #Nets

    Draymond to Nets confirmed.

It’s the NBA, if you can’t shoot that’s not going to change by playing more aggressive. Until Ben shoots 3+ threes a game , he’s a liability on offense in today’s NBA. Players playing off him and helping on Kyrie and KD will get old fast for them imo.

  7. I_Hate_Klutch_Sports

I’m sure the Sixers never told him that. Surely it’ll work this time!

  8. If Ben is a problem they could hypothetically trade him for wiggins and that way the warriors can move draymond.. Simmons is one of the few guys that can fill the draymond role, very few guys have that skill set, other are pascal, pg, butler, bam, giannis… but warriors can’t get any of these guys.. elite defenders with playmaking ability are pretty rare

  9. I don’t know why Simmons is scared to constantly attack the paint. He can’t shoot but he can score in the paint.

  10. youngpapiwhy

they talk about this dude like he’s special ed

  11. queue edge lord Kyrie going at him to tell him he’s not good enough to touch the ball when Kyrie is on the court.

  12. I think people read this as being aggressive to find his shot. The point more so is be aggressive towards the rim either passing or attacking to score. Ben can be the 5th or 6th leasing scorer it’s just about how he plays.

  13. EmbiidAndMaxey

If jimmy butler, brett brown, and Joel embiid can’t convince you over a 4 year span, no one can

  14. UnderstandingThis

Already a much better teammate than Embiid, the playoff underperformer.

  15. WeefBellington24

Dudes have been telling him this whole time

  16. livefreeordont

    > Who gives a sh1t if you miss it? We like you being aggressive.”

Isn’t that what Philly told him for 5 years?

  17. It seems the more you tell Ben Simmons to be something, the less likely that it’ll actually happen.

  18. shiny_lustrous_poo

Yeah, thuis worked out in Philly too

    >Simmons was asked to assess his shot selection in Sunday’s loss. “It was OK,” he said.

no idea what game this was, so… was it ok?

  20. Cvnilivee

What will the “30 for 30” for this team be titled?

  21. blaggityblerg

KD is definitely the ‘I can fix him’ type of girlfriend.

  22. FPSandwich

So cool to be having these conversations about a 7 year NBA vet still lmfao what an absolute loser. Anyone talking themselves into this guy at this point is insane

  23. ChickenLiverNuts

It took embiid 5 years before he brought out the babysitting quote

KD bringing it out before they played a game

  24. Gimphand_

I’m so glad it’s not me saying this anymore

  25. IntrnetHteMchne

why do so many nba players need to be told this

can yall learn to err on the side of being more aggressive already

  26. kelsier69

Yeah he’s gonna be doing the exact opposite lmao

  27. Man nothing pisses Durant off more than a player passing out of an open shot lol

  28. kxmarklowry

When are people going to realize Ben Simmons is a LIABILITY on an NBA team? It’s been 6 years and he has regressed every year in jump shooting… it has nothing to do with being aggressive or not lmao he’s just unplayable in meaningful games against competitive/quality teams.

  29. PhatYeeter

I like that OP came with the receipts on every other time Ben was told to be aggressive lol

  30. yazboy13

Ben hasn’t changed one bit, nobody should expect him too. I know it’s early but I’m really Glad the kings didn’t trade for him.

  31. medievalmachine

It’s preseason and I’m already sick of Ben Simmons.

  32. robinThicc9

I still think KD ends up in Phoenix. I can’t imagine he’ll suffer through Ben’s pass and stand at the dunker spot routine for very long.

  33. imsurethisoneistaken

“Who gives a shit if you miss it?”

Funny he ain’t have that same energy sigh Westbrook lolol

  34. Adam0529

Everyone were like, probably the best thing for Simmons is to be traded to a small market low key media, rebuilding team that can build around him with lessened pressure…

  35. Prestigious-Rock201

So he threw Ben under the bus right?
