The Raps lose another with a 17-point loss to the Bulls. The game started out quite well for the Raptors but as things got closer in the 4th the Bulls completely took over. Nick Nurse needs to figure some things out and hopefully, he can do so before the regular season starts.

No, it's not time to panic
It was only the fourth quarter and the three point shooting that was bad. The fourth quarter was guys trying to make the team most likely at the end of our bench. Im dissapointed in champagnie i see him being cut.
The bulls were still playing 2 of their starters the entire fourth quarter against guys who barely played in the nba 🤣🤣.

Panic over what? The raptors played a 17 man rotation testing players out while the bulls played their 11 man rotation. Raptors starters and key bench pieces where up 3 end of the 3rd. Every team has their different agenda for how they use preseason. Clearly raptors are testing players to get roster spots.
Everybody keeps saying relax it is preseason . Last season lakers lost all their preseason games and fan kept saying to relax . Lakers came to the season and they were awful entire year.
Was really hoping for some Scottie highlights in these preseason games and its kinda been disappointing. Hoping he just saving himself for reg season.

No t much of a commitment from the starters at any facet of the game. That is a coaching flaw. The most concerning is the abysmal three shooting.. it continues with the same players from last year. 1-8, 2-11, 2-24. Those kind of stats spell defeat. Can’t blame that on rust. Already the opposition has been destroying the Raptors deep. Also exposing the double teaming.
I really hope Porter Jr is a stabilizing force on the Raps. I don't know anything about him but he looks like a gamer.

Fred's missed threes become turnovers. I am more concerned by the hopefuls' performances in this preseason (tryout) game. The team will still be more potent than last season when all the guys wake up. When you create more shots than your opponent you should score more points.
Scottie will improve. If Raptors shoot an average NBA percentage, they win this game. Would be nice to see them have two good shooting nights
in succession.
Listening to NN and Fred being interviewed after the game was kind of frustrating. Both were real low key and almost seemed bored. Nick was real laid back, sort of indicating everything was proceeding as planned and Fred basically said, hey it's preseason we are going to grow throughout the season, we want to peak heading into the playoffs not now. At this point I haven't seen anything in this team that will get them above 6th in the standings. I find it strange that reporters haven't asked a bit more aggressively – what's up with the incredibly poor shooting and all the ISO plays by the starters?
@jacob_gramegna its preseason so its fine to try to work out of a shot slump since winning and losing doesnt matter.
the main thing is the players fighting for the last 2 roster spots.
I think josh jackson was in the lead in the first 2 games but now its DJ Wilson who even though gets 6 minutes last 2 games he still contributes in some points and fills out the stat sheet.
justin champagnie has an uphill climb currently working off the rust.
its what these guys at the end of the bench willl basically be getting 6-10 minutes so it looks like with limited minutes last 2 games DJ Wilson still contributes off the bench. He is the better rebounder and average over the last 4 games now probably same ppg as josh jackson. DJ wilson also i think is better defensively and protects the rim better.
It's preseason. No time to panic. Hell!! When it comes to the real season or playoffs, that is when it is time to panic!

Disappointing. The second unit is a bunch of young players trying their best, and really have so much learn about playing with each other, as a team. And Scottie…..I'm not going to say anything since he has so many supporters (I'm not one os them – sorry)

Fred is shooting WAY too much. 14 shots and 12 of them from deep on low percentages is a recipe for losing. After 4 games the raptors don't look like they've made any improvements from last season. Maybe it's the preseason but that's all we have to base it off. Paul George even said it at rico hines, if the raps don't come out gunning he'd be surprised considering how much time they've spent playing with each other this summer.
The problem with Raptors is that they all think they're Steph Furry.

All those Rico Hines runs haven’t showed at all didnt look like any of the starters elevated. Boston starters was more free flowing you can just see how well and easy it is for them compared to our starters. In terms of Scottie its going to be hard for him to get any buckets because of how ball dominant Fred and Siakam they are chucking up shots and this is the addition of Gary and Precious as well. Scottie honestly has to be aggressive he has the athletic ability and physical to drive in.
Fred does not look any better. Shooting was poor. Will end up 6th or 7th again in the east. Maybe time to trade a few starters. Keep Scotty and Trent, everybody else expendable.
They look bad… Siakim looks bad, Fred looks average , OG doesn't look any better, Scottie looks unprepared for the EXTRA attention that will come his way after winning ROTY. He needs to wake up get used to other teams coming at him. Offense looks terrible and defense is no where near where it needs to be.
It’s preseason there’s alway guys that don’t perform to their ability and then guys who look better then they actually are. Don’t take 2-3 preseason games to heart. Have faith in the character of your players and trust in the wrk they put in. When the time comes they will be good

Another year of being a first round exit is what’s got a lot of y’all coping in the comments this team is on the brink of Nba purgatory. we have two clear different timelines yet we haven’t committed to either, our roster construction is horrible Masai isn’t the revolutionary he thinks he is, our offense stinks yet we insist of taking an iso every Damn possession down the court, our backcourt makes up the worst rim pressure duo in the league and to add insult to injury one is a beyond negative playmaker while the other is just mid. Best case scenario we are s first round exit again this team needs to be blown up and rebuilt properly and what a great drafting year it is to start doing that.

Preseason means everything if you're looking in the right places. Everyone saying preseason doesn't matter, the same ones who still thought the Lakers were going to be good last year after going winless in the preseason. I vividly remember watching the 2020 Raptors preseason and being so disappointed in Baynes and the interior defence that I knew instantly it was going to be a losing campaign 100%. It doesn't look good right now, but a positive sign is that Siakam is getting his groove back. Scottie seems destined for a sophomore slump, so let's keep an eye out here. The 3pt shooting will likely stay at this dreadful pace all year until we get more open looks with Scottie, and Siakam regularly getting good inside buckets. Current standing, we're looking like an 7th or 8th seed unfortunately.
FVV is a volume streaky shooter and when he's cold he just never stop jacking up 3s and that's all he can do to score. This has always been an issue and coach/alot of FVV's fans kept ignoring. Alot of time if just half of those shots FVV missed were given to another player and they made half of them there will be at least an extra 4-6 pts. We could have won more games. I think Nurse needs to sit FVV or make him understand to pass when he's cold. FVV always holding back the team.
