> Joel Embiid announced the launch of his new philanthropic platform, “In Memory of Arthur” (IMOA) today. Embiid, Under Armour, and the IMOA Initiative has pledged to grant $1 Million to a group of locally-led nonprofit organizations, over the next three years.
Embiid is doing community work for non-profits, looking to always remember his younger brother Arthur, who died at the age of 13 in 2014. “The Process” looks to do charity work in his honor. Prayers for Arthur!

I love Joel sm
Pretty sure Embiid named his son after his brother.
That’s luhhhh.
Also let’s have a nice Embiid thread given the context please. Yall can go back to bashing him/the sixers in the next thread.
Keep being awesome Jo
Who could hate Embiid?
Cool to give much needed money to nonprofits here. A bit confused on if they’ve actually announced any nonprofits with whom they’ll be working. Anybody have information about that? I’d love to read about the actual causes.
Good on him. Many athlete “foundations” are unregulated tax shelters and personal piggy banks and the ones that do actual charity work often duplicate services already provided in the community. I don’t know the details of this program, but props to Embiid for funding existing organizations in Philly.
My guy!!
Good guy Joel
Love hating Joel on the court, but this type of thing is bigger than basketball and hits hard when you got a lil’ bro of your own. Good shit man

Embiid the person seems like a great dude. He’s a competitor, and I hate him sometimes for the *way* he competes, but he definitely seems like one of the more stand up guys in the NBA.
Anyone know a way to tell which of these charities are legit vs which ones are just for PR/Tax dodging?
