Ryen Russillo: the more I think about, the unprotected first 2027 and 2029 for fucking Miles Turner and Buddy Hield, that’s insane. And you don’t do it…
Bill Simmons podcast. The whole segment is about Lakers. The quote starts at 6:56
Been saying this since day 1 but this sub doesn’t seem to understand lol.
2 UN-PROTECTED future picks for Hield and Turner meanwhile Pacers can’t even get a single pick for either one of them. It’s ridiculous.

Keeping Russ is fucking insane
_AgainstTheGrain_
I agree that’s not the move even though those two players would appear to fill our needs.
It doesn’t make us top in the west and gives us virtually no way to improve moving past this season.
I think a trade will be made but not for both FRPs.
fasnxs
Even one pick is insane but it is what it is
Splittinghairs7
The lakers need to just bite the bullet and do the John Wall treatment for Russ while they wait patiently for Pacers to be sensible.
The longer it goes the more desperate they become.
Playing Westbrick only lowers our leverage because he will cause our record to be worse.
Stop thinking anyone will be trading for Russ because he’s a good player, there’s no need to play him.
Klaxosaur
I’m down for one pick not both. If they’re still asking for both fuck them. Shut down Brodie if it gets worse.
Bahamut727
Spurs/Charlotte/pacers deals are worth one first and a pick swap or seconds
TheWonderfulLife
I don’t even think it’s worth 1 FRP, let alone 2.

Everyone knows. Myles Turner and Buddy aren’t worth 2 near guaranteed lottery picks let alone one. Problem is they have all the leverage right now. If they get closer to the deadline and still don’t have any series offers then they’ll be more likely to fold for a lot less.
HenryGrosmont
I read the posts that we’re desperate, etc and we need to do the trade. How does making this trade help any of it? Do Turner and Hield make us contenders? No, not even close. So, why on Earth should we pull the trigger? Sometimes, this sub baffles me.
Manmadecreature
If you do it, the Pacers will do whatever they can to capitalize off Lakers’s desperation by demanding nothing less than those two picks.
If you don’t do it, you are probably going to waste another year of AD and Bron.
I mean the worst part about Russ being here is not only about fit, it has already gotten way worse than that. It seems Russ doesn’t vibe with the rest of the team at all if you look at his body language and I’m not sure how that will affect the team throughout this year, at least.
I’m not saying it is Russ’s fault for not fitting in or blaming the fit issue on Russ alone but I just don’t see how Russ and Lakers can cooperate further going into the future
beebobappo
We shouldn’t do it. LeGM pushed for Russ and in turn destroyed any chance of competing these next few years. He’s just gonna have to sit in it. We can’t destroy the franchise’s future
Koba8
Fuck the pacers trade, just send westbrick home for the year, we’d be better off doing that.
kwesi777
Y’all are buggin. We could only get to the paint last night bc Gobert and Towns were out. Had they been in, we might not have scored last night lol
Pelinka can try and play it cool, but we are obviously desperate to A. move off Russ and B. Get decent role players in return for him.
Do the Pacers trade already.
AntSmith777
He’s right. Just send Russ home until there’s a reasonable deal to be had. If there’s no deal, then let his contract expire.
Complex_Jellyfish647
Trading Russ for a bag of popcorn makes us contenders lmao. Getting back actual players is just a bonus.
We-Want-Tacos
Rob needs to send the Pacers GM a photo of Wembanyama everyday until he lowers the asking price
zhard01
What about calling the Hornets back up after it’s obvious they’re fresh but Hayward is healthy. Rozier and Hayward on bad contracts straight up no picks.
Role out: Rozier/Bev/Bron/AD/Jones with Hayward handling bench scoring or
Rozier/Bev/Hayward/Bron/AD and then have Nunn and Walker run and gun off the bench

The majority of this sub from July- early September : Do the Pacers trade! It’s the best deal
Now: There’s no way the pacers deal is worth two firsts
Huh?? Was our sub just desperate back then or am I missing something? Bc I saw so many ppl saying do the Indy deal over the summer and these ppl got heavily upvoted.
It was always gonna be one first to take on Russ and one first to get a quality player back. So is everyone just willing to wait til the trade deadline for a better deal now since the Indy price is too steep ? What if Indy doesn’t drop their price before then? Is it worth going through another possible rocky season to begin with? Just asking for clarification
whaatmoney
Good things come to those who wait. Like Bill and Russillo said on the pod, the NBA landscape will dramatically change by December/January. The Sixers waited to trade Ben Simmons and ended up with a package that would have been a pipe dream in the summertime (Harden).
Wembenyama is already becoming the most hyped prospect of all time and the front office is wisely leaning into that. If the Lakers were navigating from a place of desperation they would have overpaid for some mediocre ass package a long time ago. Why do it now because of 4 pre-season games?
Prepare yourselves for a bumpy start to the season, but in due time we will make the right move.

It is insane — two potential lottery picks for two guys who will never make an All-Star team.
As shitty as it is to have Russ on the team, you can’t just dump him along with the pick(s). Those are basically the only trade chips they have that could bring anything of value in return. Yes, this team as constructed would be better without Russ, but it still wouldn’t be a contender. The FO needs to continue to be patient and wait these other teams out, but the Lakers need to play well enough to not look desperate.
ThatguyingtonVersion
They talked about waiting for a mediocre team to decide to tank for Vic, and that would be a home run situation for the Lakers.
I think Bill spitballed Jerami Grant, Josh Hart, and Nurk for Russ and some stuff from the Blazers should they decide to fully tank.
My #1 delusion is OKC is too good for their own good, and SGA comes to our Lakies for Russ, picks, and swaps
percbandit
Too bad Lakers are always negotiating from a seemingly desperate situation last two years.
