>Kram: Most teams around this portion of the rankings are powered by one transcendent youngster, like Haliburton, Young, and Ball. The Knicks don’t have anyone near that level. But what they do have is more young depth than almost any other team, with five U25 players projected to accumulate double-digit WAR over the next half decade. That’s tied for the most of any franchise, along with the team that ranks no. 1 on our list.
>The Knicks, to use the old analogy, don’t have any dollar-bill players; instead, their young core consists of a handful of quarters: Immanuel Quickley (whom advanced stats absolutely adore) and Quentin Grimes in the backcourt, RJ Barrett on the wing, Mitchell Robinson and underrated backup Isaiah Hartenstein in the middle. Whether the group—particularly Quickley and Barrett, the highest-ceiling members of the quintet—can take a collective step forward this season will go a long way toward determining the Knicks’ future.

Not sure who I would put us above here.
The Ringer put together their ranking based on a ”stat ranking” composed of 538’s WAR projection over the next 5 years and an “expert ranking” based on Kyle Mann’s personal opinion.
Knicks ranked 2nd behind the Memphis Grizzlies in their WAR ranking thanks to five U25 players projected to accumulate double-digit WAR over the next half decade (RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Mitchell Robinson and Isiah Hartenstein). Mann however ranked the Knicks 19th in his subjective opinion about the Knicks core . The 17 spot variance between the stat and expert ranking is the largest one on the list.
cant say im mad at this, there are alot of good young cores above us
I mean we have young players that could become good to passable bench players, but we have non starter material young players other than maybe grimes, let alone all star caliber ones.
We’re obviously not 2nd
They made a good point about some teams being ranked highly because of one clear stud vs our core being a lot of “pretty decent” assets but none that really swing the needle.
