Timberwolves lose to Nets in preseason debut of Rudy Gobert-Karl-Anthony Towns duo

The Minnesota Timberwolves played Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns together for the first time on Friday night, and the result was a clunky offensive showing and a loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Still, there was plenty to get excited about after seeing the Wolves’ massive frontcourt in action for the first time. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down the fun quirks in the offense so far, and which moments were clear signs of things to come. Plus, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were unbelievable in overcoming what was a decent defensive performance from the Wolves.

  1. what I am going to say about Anthony Edwards is going to trigger lots of fans but it needs to be said. and yes I understand this is preseason, he is adjusting to a newish scheme, hes only 21, he’s just getting his feet wet, but his habits are EXACTLY the same.
There are so many aspects about Edwards game that continue to repeat and I think everyone gets caught up in his “personality” and “dunk reels” and doesn’t pay attention to what he actually needs improving on.
First, he continues to be below average around the rim. He doesn’t have any awareness in the paint. Last 2 years he was ranked at around the bottom of rim finishing. Plus he isn’t using his body EVER to draw fouls. He always fades away. However, he did develop a euro-step which is improvement.
Another big aspect is his predictable, momentum-killing iso moves. Now when he is hot, he is HOT. But i swear you can tell when he isnt having a good shot, he continues to force it and force it. It just ruins the tempo.
Lastly, I am shocked how little he does off ball. He always stands there and waits for his turn.
Anyways, I believe this dude can be great, I am just critical because I have high expectations and I want more results. Once again I know this is preseason and that he is 21. It just worries me that he isn’t exactly changing his habits. Go Wolves

  2. We can talk about Edwards but he's not a negative 17 player with 6 turnovers who kills every momentum we had in the game jacking up bs shots

  3. They actually looked good just got to get that rhythm timing and chemistry down but I liked what I saw give them some time everything is going to be fine
