Is this about us?
The Brooklyn Nets had been in ‘cursory talks’ with one Western Conference team about a deal that would return a veteran shooter and Ben Simmons' name came up in those talks 👀👀👀

Id be surprised if we aren’t talking to them and at least doing our due diligence but the odds of us pulling the trigger seem low, imo. There’s a large gap in salaries and we have every incentive to make them worse. The counterpoint is removing Simmons from the nets and replacing him with an aging EG and role players through a 3rd team makes the nets worse in the long run.
No, we didn’t trade harden for that bum
Doubt it. Unless we bring in a 3rd team, the salaries don’t work at all. We’d need to throw in Jalen or Jabari with EG just to match salary and I don’t see us doing that at this point.
Oh, dear god, no!
Why would Houston help the Nets out of their implosion? It benefits Houston for Brooklyn to devolve into an absolute disaster.
A point forward and we keep KPJ and Green backcourt. Win win right? Not
Do I think this is about us – I’m sure we have had calls about EG and it wouldn’t surprise me if the nets were one of the teams.
However, I don’t see the trigger on this ever getting pulled unless we had some other compensation. He would absolutely be an upgrade (shhh im talking about nix/matthews mins), but if the goal is another top pick then it makes no sense.
I’ll take a few more firsts.
That was my initial reaction. I’m a bit torn on it
On one hand, we have no pressure to win here now. If Ben could get his mind right and get back to form he’d be amazing with us. Him handling the ball and hitting KPJalen for easy buckets sounds sexy AF. Then between him and Bari we’d be able to lockdown anyone.
On the other, eating his contract for the next few years fucks up our free agency plans. It would seriously push back the rebuild. And considering he’s a net (hehehe) negative right now leaving him to ruin Brooklyn’s chances the next few years sounds like easy money.
I imagine this is just Stone doing his job and we’re not going to try too hard to land him. But if we do my assumption would be the FO loves what we have already and believes we’re ready to compete next year.
I think it’s about the Kings or Spurs
Simmons for Mike Conley and Kelly Olynyk?
