If Lakers starters can't play good after 2Q then just give them less minutes at the start and play them after the halftime and in the 4th. There are some solid players on their bench so they can at least try to give them some minutes in the 1st half, not just in the late 4th.
For me it's the only way possible to stay competitive all game. Even if they'll get 20 point lead at the half they'll probably blow it by the end of 3rd looking at how they're playing
