(Himmelsbach) “League sources have said the Celtics plan to keep (Grant) Williams in the fold, and if the sides are unable to reach a deal, the team would likely match any offer sheet that Williams signs with another team anyway.”

Makes even less sense to not have already signed him. Unless it was all grant betting on himself

Not surprising, but I really wish we’d just given him the 4/60 he wanted. He’s gonna be worth more than that this offseason

I think people might be overreacting on this. I love Grant and I think he should get a big bag, but realistically who is paying him more than 17M/yr? If you check the salaries between 13 an 17M/season [here](https://hoopshype.com/salaries/players/) you’ll see only a few names that you wouldn’t straight (in a vaccum) trade Grant for.

The names you wouldn’t trade Grant for are usually really bad contracts as well, like Bertans, Duncan Robinson.

From a purely financial standpoint I think whatever he wanted last summer will be less than they will pay next summer, but its not my money so as long as we extend him idc. Throwback to when most of us (exposing myself) thought he was the worst player in the NBA and now I Will be livid if they let him walk.

Why would they say this publicly? Here comes the entire East to drive.up the price on him.

  6. Brad and his team are pretty analytical, im fairly confident they looked at all the angles, had all the relevant discussions and agreed to see what happens.. the risk is pretty balanced for both sides here, either celtics match an offer that’s higher than they were expecting (but still won’t be crazy high, and it will be worth it based on grants performance driving that value up) or grant will end up conceding to a lower offer from celtics because there were no buyers…

i mean are we second-guessing Brad and his team on this issue really? Has he given us any reason whatsoever to doubt his judgement?
