“(Phoenix) recently, I’m told, engaged in a three-team deal that would’ve sent Jae Crowder to Milwaukee.”

So what I’m seeing is another team potentially getting a 3&D wing for second rounders while Lakers are expected to give up first rounders. So frustrating, we are the only ones talking about Lakers tax, media try and act like we’re expecting eveything for free or to get all the best players on the cheap. Last time that happened was Pau 13 years ago. If anything we’ve done nothing but overpay!

There’s no such thing as the Lakers tax, it’s probably because everyone knows Lakers have no pro scouting department and no one likes Pelinka.

Also, embarassing for Pelinka and Jeanie if a contender becomes a favourite while we’re here twiddling our thumbs and don’t make any moves.

So I do agree that there is some sort of Lakers tax but I also think a bigger reason is that our FO is known around the NBA as being incompetent.

Let’s be honest, we overpaid for AD, overpaid for Russ and have been fleeced on a good few occasions since Rob took over. Even the stupid Zubac/Muscala trade has been widely ridiculed.

I honestly think that teams see Rob calling and just think ‘he is an idiot, let’s increase the price as he is more likely to overpay’.

  3. You don’t know who the Bucks are giving to the Rockets though lol. Or who else the Suns are trading. They can’t take in $20M in contracts and only give out $10M in Jae.

It’s not exactly a Lakers tax, it’s called fleecing someone when they are the 12th seed. Plus the Suns will likely want to make a trade with someone in the East.

Jae Crowder wants out and still hasn’t played this season. None of the guys the Lakers want have done that

It’s 4 second rounders which is equivalent to a first relax brother

  7. Blaming a “Lakers tax” for an incompetent front office is a new one. Rob routinely gives out terrible contracts to rookies giving the team no flexibility with them(Reeves, THT), continues to star hunt simultaneously missing out on quality role players, signs undersized guards, and for two years avoids getting NBA level shooters.

And yes I mean NBA level snipers not buyout bums like Wayne Ellington or Macklemore who aren’t on a roster this year.

Other teams dont want to helpus cuz they know if we get what we want the chance of us winning goes up exponentially. Which is why we have to overpay for everything we do.
