This Is Why It's TOO EARLY For The Raptors To Start Tanking Now..

The Toronto Raptors have dealt with multiple slumps from many of the players on their team so far this season but it now appears as though the team, in general, is slumping after back-to-back brutal losses to the lowly Orlando Magic which has seen their record fall to under .500 for the first time this season. Raptors fans were already frustrated with the inconsistencies of the team but it seems that this is the final straw and some are now encouraging this team to blow it up and tank for a draft pick and maybe just put themselves in contention for the hottest prospect of the year in Victor Wembanyama. The Raptors offense looks weak, with no ability to create in half-court and the defense has not played up to scratch to compensate for that this season. Is it really time to give up on the season?

There were high expectations going into the season as the Raptors were looking to build off the 48 wins from last season which was achieved with a young core that should have ascended to new levels this season. That notion, especially with reigning rookie of the year Scottie Barnes, is just not panning out. Masai Ujiri now might be faced with another difficult decision if he really believes, play in for what with this team. Is NOW the time to decide on if tanking is the best option?

  1. they should just casually limit Fred, Siakam, and OG to 30 minutes a game. Load manage Scotty for the rest of the season because of his knee. They would lose every time.

  2. Way too early to full on tank but they’ve clearly got to change SOMETHING. I don’t see why they aren’t trying to get reddish and quickly from the knicks

  3. fred is compromised physically like kemba hard to see how we can recover from that

  4. Get Poetl for picks, Fred + GTJ + picks for SGA, make Scottie PG, and grab an efficient 3 point shooter off the bench like Seth Curry.

  5. What do you people even expect out of this squad? A championship? What are they even playing for ? I'm so confused honestly.

  6. Why in the F do you keep bringing up tanking? We’re going to make roster changes to help win games. Not tank for Victor. You’re actually ridiculous.

  7. The league will never let Raptors get a first round pick especially after winning the title in 2019 something they didn’t saw coming. If you pay attention to the league they’re biases towards this organization look at the referees calls when Raptors play

  8. If u wanna tank, move siakam, get picks for og and give scottie 28 shots a game, we'll get vic or land scooter for sure

  9. If I’m being completely honest the Raptors have no chance of winning a championship within the next five years because you don’t have a good enough players and you’re not gonna get the top free agents you need to rebuild through the draft and this is coming from a Toronto native

  10. When we beat the Lakers I was pretty excited but I also remembered that they didn’t have the two best players so to me it wasn’t really impressive

  11. Funny, tanking to get draft pick will then resolve the problem? What is NBA if all those losing teams were tanking ? Training, switching players, game plan & Management strategy are striving against the NBA teams, this is the spirit of NBA.

  12. If we tank and get 1 of Wemby/Scoot/Amen we would have a franchise altering prospect and no Scottie isn’t one of those. We need to rebuild what the front office has been doing is digging this franchise into mediocrity and it’s sickening sell off of Gtj/FVV and move Siakam for a kings ransom and rebuild

  13. Hey if things go horrible. We still can get a 10th-12th overall pick. We can’t be bad enough to get in the top 3. But hey, Masai and Bobby normally strike gold at the end of the first round, so a top 15 pick is basically gold

  14. I find it totally hilarious how people are like “trade fred he’s playing like crap! “We should trade free, Gary and first round picks for shae lol. People. Wake the hell up. Who is trading a top young player for an almost 30 point guard who’s struggling. Not happening. Wake up. It’s friggin jokes.

  15. Did Raptors really "tank" in Tampa or they were just genuinely was not good, with injury, not having home games at all etc etc?

  16. The way the draft lottery is constructed right now sort of eliminates a lot of the so called "incentive" to tank. The Raps have a very good developmental system so probably be best to do the best they can now and see where the chips fall at the end of the season.

  17. @jacob lol look at what nurse doing again, short rotation 40 minutes a night for starters. how did that turn out last year lol. insanity is doing the same thing over and over again thinking it will result in something different.

  18. @jacob another hole, the raptors last year were also a bad shooting team. this year they are the worst shooting team

  19. @jacob i can see the raptors going 3 win 7 loss in next 10 with teams they are going to be playing. it is what is is. nurse playiing starters 40 miinutes and wearing them out or getting injured. not developing young players cuz he plays a short rotation. might be time to realize the best this team is at best is playoff team out first round with heavy starter minutes during season. if thats the case, sell off assets and rebuild around scottie barnes, og anunoby, koloko, delano and maybe even gary trent jr.

gobert trade inflated prices this year so they likely not get more than they will this year.

  20. I can see us going like 3-10 over the next 13 games. The tank will happen naturally whether we like it or not.

  21. It’s tough man. Because I want to give this team time but at the same time, they will probably win themselves out of real high pick range if they wait to long to choose to tank

  22. This is a weird unrealistic philosophy but, if you tank out. If the pick is in the top 3 for Wemby, Scoota or Amen. You take them. If it’s outside the top 3. Package the pick with other assets to make a big trade for a star

  23. The expectations on Scottie for this year was unfair, it's a long year for a second year player

  24. i think if they lose alot before january and first 10 days of january, it might be worth tanking for victor then and tell nurse to play the young guys for half the game after that. reason being there is no victory in going to 1st round and being bounced after 1 or 2 wins.

a few more losses and raptors probably be on par with magic record. so victor is within reach. pray for the shooting slump to go on for a month or more.

  25. Not time to tank. It's time to deep bench Fred. A shooting guards that can't shoot shouldn't play. He's literally the WORST shooter in the league right now. DEAD LAST!!!.

  26. Blow it up, then tank
    Or don't tank at all
It's not even All Star break yet, can't believe this is even a discussion.

  27. I say it's time to bench the starters and start the bench. Not only that, give the new starters the minutes as starters. I am tired of hearing Fred is bad but we can't trust Flynn, Banton, or Dowtin. Give them the minutes Fred was getting for 20 games and see then compare them with Fred's numbers. I don't see how anyone can be worse than Fred at this point.

  28. the december and january schedule for raptors is one of the most brutal schedules i have seen. if things go badly we could be in the victor sweepstakes by january 12

  29. I think FVV, Flynn and maybe even Gary should be on the trading block). Tanking doesn’t guarantee us Victor but a top 15 pick can give us a premium 6’8 to 6’10 guys that Nurse can develop.
