Donovan Mitchell Hurts The Utah Jazz …Again!

Monty & Jake are talking Utah Jazz Basketball, and the harsh words Donovan Mitchell had for the Utah Jazz, and the Utah community. The Cleveland Cavaliers easily handled the Utah Jazz, but it’s what Donovan Mitchell said before the game that did the most damage as Donovan Mitchell says inequality, and specifically a lack of representation in the Black community was a major factor in his desire to leave Utah. Donovan Mitchell also said he had difficult interactions with the police in Utah, and it was only after the police realized who he was that things changed.

  1. Donovan did not hurt the Jazz. The Utah fan base hurt the Jazz. Don is simply the messenger. As a white guy I can acknowledge the fact that no matter how nice a car I'm driving I have never once had to worry about whether or not the officer who pulls me over is going to question whether or not I own it. I can acknowledge that I have never once had to fear for my life during a traffic stop. I can understand that for a black man in this state (and many others) that is not the case.

  2. I applaud both of you for your take on this situation. As a black man and a Utah jazz fan I have always felt somewhat conflicted in my fandom. I love the team but have always had my reservations regarding the fan base. I have thought about attending games there but have been very reluctant to bring myself and my family to Utah (my son and I are both jazz fans). Now if I as a fan feel concerned about being in the crowd I can imagine what the players feel like. I would hope that my fellow jazz fans would be welcoming. I imagine most of them would be but I also believe that there would be some that would make me feel as though I don’t belong there.

  3. Organizations like BLM and LGBTQ are baloney!! All they do is take advantage of a situation to make money off people or to continue dividing us! I have friends that are African American that hate The organization BLM! Just how I have friends who are gay or trans also HATE being represented by LGBTQ organization!! And want to know something guys I got jumped by African Americans outside of a club in salt lake for something so insignificant, and I’m still dealing with the pain from that night I got 2 of my teeth MESSED up unfortunately, but because of what happened to me do I hate or dislike African Americans? or see them differently?? Absolutely not, and while I got my as jumped they said the most messed up things! I’ve dealed with racism only in Utah since I got into my school bus in Kindergarten literally being 1 of 3 Latinos in all of all of the kindergartners lol that was such a culture shock in Springville Utah 98! I had another culture shock going to a school of mainly Latinos in Provo in 4th grade! Even then my Latino didn’ accept me either! such a crazy world we live in

  4. Money is green. He never had a problem with the paycheck (you know, a paycheck signed by a white guy). How ridiculous to make an issue about the fact that Utah is majority white. Was Don born under a rock?

  5. Just a note for the show (Thought this video was great):
Sympathy is the ability to see another persons perspective though they haven't experienced the expressed feeling or situation for themselves.
Empathy is understanding another person's perspective because they have experienced the same.
A white man feeling for Don in this instance is Sympathy, a black man feeling for Don is Empathy (potentially).
