  1. Well good thing shutting down the star players tends to be followed by winning

  2. LurkDesigns

Oh boy, I’m sure this will be a civil thread between the Raptors and Sixers fanbases.

  3. GadzookYoicks

I feel like he’s trolling half the time

  4. fucking-stagmire

How is he still mad about scoring 0 points

  5. That picture is perfect for that quote. Wtf lol

  6. desnrown

They dont care about winning yet they have a ring and you don’t lmaooooo

  7. pagonator

Well it does feel like the Raptors double and triple team stars more than any other team I’ve seen which leads to wide open lanes and 3s for other guys. Tbf it might be due to their roster construction and pretty must having 4 athletic forwards on the court at all times.

It has its benefits but it does feel they overdo it at times.

  8. awwwyeahaquaman

This seems like, maybe a misquote. Although we know it’s true

  9. The-Pharcyde

Never forget “Nick Nurse cares more about stopping Steph than actually winning the game”

  10. Bababooey98

Accurate. Raptor fans would rather see Embiid have a bad shooting night than see their own team win.

  11. BPicksbanned4nothing

I mean it’s a fair strategy to win? No? Like forcing a team to win through means they’re not used to. Force someone to step up and win.

I, for one, am shocked that Embiid is being petty towards the fanbase of a team that has made his life miserable for years, in terms of how they guard him, broke his face in the playoffs, cheered while doing so, and for the most part identify his style of play as crimes against humanity.

  14. MyHentaiPage

Seems like Embiid cares a lot about the Raptors as well

  15. LeveonNumber1

I mean it feels like they focus most of their energy on just shutting down Embiid because they do, and it’s a rather successful strategy against the Sixers despite how on paper our other guys should be able to exploit the overcommitment. Games like that show the value of coaching, and despite the end result I think there’s a clear victor.

  16. mr_robust

Cause nurse is a high school level coach..

  17. RedRocket13

Same thing with the Sixers. Feels like they care more about getting to the line than winning the game

  18. SharpMind94

Hacking Garland in the first game of the season seems to imply that

  19. Panzer_I

Remember when the raptors double teamed Jalen green last year when he was having that insane scoring stretch. Instead of guarding the entire rockets team, they just focused him.

    Why double team a rookie??

  20. 693275001

Why would Joel talk about his children in this way

  21. _cosmix1

Just called them inefficiency merchants LMAOOO

  22. sorendiz

why are we posting this trash content?? I don’t mean in reference to the quote or title of the post or anything but like the actual article is… frankly terrible

editorializing aside, which I can understand to some degree, this thing looks like it never received even a second glance after it was slapped together and thrown up for clicks. Don’t give fourth rate garbage like this attention until they at least pretend to put effort into their content

  23. elimanninglightspeed

I think what he meant was theyll sell out out to stop stars while theyll let role players go off against them

  24. HisExcellency20

It’s a funny quote but I understand what he’s saying. He’s basically just saying they try and stop the star and don’t adjust from it if it isn’t working. Like they feel like it’ll even out over the course of a season and a game.

So if Melton doesn’t have his worst shooting game of the year missing wide open three after wide open three then they just lose by double digits with no adjustment. Which to Joel is strange and is “not caring if they win,” but Nick thinks that over the course of a season his strategy is best and he would rather his players play like that all the time than adjust to it not working and defend differently. It’s why they are so good at defending the star players.

Whether or not this strategy is the best or not is ultimately irrelevant to the conversation. Personally I don’t think you can do that in this era with the shooters most teams have, but then again they did take us to OT because Melton did miss wide open three after wide open three. Luckily for us Harris is a sharpshooter. A friend of a friend told me that.

  25. lostinspacs

Could just be a simple troll, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this quote had something to do with the Cameroonian rivalry.

Siakam balled out last night and Embiid was swarmed again and mostly held in check. They always go at each other pretty hard in these matchups so maybe Joel was a bit salty.

  26. Earl-Mix

Nick Nurse has more championships than embiid using that strategy so maybe he should rethink what he said

  27. monkey-pox

That’s just their defensive strategy, they throw bodies at the biggest threat and hope the rest can’t hurt them

  28. ImaTurtle6

Love when teams sell out on Giannis and we blow them out.

  29. dalanofanclub

Him having 0 points in a playoff game definitely helped us win 💯😭

  30. Special_Shirt2127

god winning a championship will do wonders for his mental health, you’d hate to see him bathe in salt for the rest of his life.

  31. DylanLars

Weird where raptors and Nick Nurse HAS a title and Joel doesn’t.

I have to ask what the fuck does Embiid know about winning?

  32. UnderstandingThis

I’m so glad that people are starting to realize that this guy is an unaccomplished fraud. Great bigs like Giannis, AD and Jokic actually have accomplishments. Embiid has done nothing yet keeps getting compared to them due to regular season stretches.

  33. Anxiousapathy20

Fuck the Raptors, and their fans. Genuinely the most toxic horrid fanbase
