To be fair, the fact that he’s getting playing time is wild lol

crazy to me how many people questioned the pick when he was mocked as a lottery and fell to us like that’s talent you don’t pass up that late in the draft

my only concern was injury history but I liked the pick

I was really low on his defense, and figured that would make him unplayable on a Nate-led team that was trying to contend. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong about a former top prospect robbed of athleticism by injury.

Damn you’re holding yourself more accountable than Collin Cowherd and Bill Simmons put together

Reminds me of all the “Ayton would be a better addition than Mitchell” guys last offseason too…I was baffled by that one

At the time I felt like I was one of the 10 people in the sub that LOVED this pick lol his injury history scared teams off but he had no business falling to 16 and being drafted behind guys Johnny Davis, Ousmane Dieng, and Ochai Agbaji.

    Everyone says he lost athleticism

I’ve watched his high school tape. He actually didn’t rise up in traffic all that often, his nicest dunks were in space. And he was a man amongst boys in that regard too. Most of his comp was smaller than he. If you go on his Instagram he was a nasty putback dunk he got at Duke post-injury. Head at the rim.

When he can load up, he can still jump the way we saw in high school. At the NBA level, I just don’t think he was ever going to be the guy that can jump in traffic and dunk on the 7 footers.

Laterally, he’s not bad. He’s no lockdown but he contests and competes. Any defensive highlight i saw from him in high school was a blocked shot on a player smaller than he.

I think we see guys in high school and project what they’ll be then to what they’ll be in the NBA on defense. We are almost always wrong. Scottie Barnes is living off his high school defensive reputation even now. People think he’s a lockdown and even Raptors fans will tell you that’s not even close to the case.

I think he’s still the same athlete, he’s just playing against other elite athletes now and he looks very average. Still very strong, especially for his age. He looks like Hercules.
