Portland Trail Blazers lose 2nd Game in OKC Thanks to Free throws and 4th Quarter Struggles

The Portland Trail Blazers lost for a second straight game against the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

OKC took 25 free throws compared to just nine for the Trail Blazers? But while free throws were a major factor this game was not ultimately decided at the free throw line.

This feels like a “look in the mirror” type loss where the Blazers should assess where they stand roster-wise and what goals they feel they want to and will be able to accomplish this season.

  1. When we get in that mindset we need to count on Dame to win games. Also 0 pride and urgency on defense. We become the same team as last year. Except now we have the talent. Blazers need to dig deep and do some soul searching.

  2. This team began the season with a different mindset. That mindset gave us the best record in the western conference. It seems to me, that we have reverted back to some very bad habits which started when we were hit with the injury bug. And this doesn't even include our turnover issues. Seems like we are still fighting old cultural norms in my opinion.

  3. Portland shoots LOTS of threes, OKC mostly drives. OKC is great at playing defense without fouling, Portland isn’t. Pretty simple to see why OKC gets more whistles.

  4. Three main shooters had a terrible shooting night, Dame, Ant and Grant. That’s the reason we lost the game. But good thing is, this bad shooting happens not to offen for all three of them at the same time…
9/25 for three shouldn’t happen to offen, all three of them are to good for so poor statistics.

  5. These two games are the blueprint for how to stop Dame in the playoffs. Stick an elite defensive wing on Dame and face guard him. It has destroyed the Blazers for years. It's the difference between Dame becoming a 1st team all-nba and instead being a 2nd or 3rd team all-nba. Dame can taken out of games by physical defense when a team game plans around it and has the defenders to execute it. He isn't unstoppable like a Curry, Luka, Giannis, Embiid, Jokic, Tatum, LeBron. Dame has never done great against really physical defenders that also have the speed to stick with him. He usually resorts to jacking even longer threes or driving into a packed key and looking for a foul.

  6. Listened to the end. I really enjoy that you provide facts throughout and really think through and give reasonable thoughts on what may be to come and why what is, is. Much love and happy and safe holiday.
