In the ’97 season Scottie Pippen was making $2.25 million, which sounds like a lot of money, I want that much money. But I’m not an elite NBA player (never given the chance).
Compared to salaries of elite NBA players, or even regular NBA players, Pippen was quite underpaid. In fact, he was the 128th highest paid player in the league. While leading, along with Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman, the Bulls to a 5th title. Outrageous.
As you can imagine this led to bad blood– in the form of tipsy verbal assault, near trades, purposefully delayed surgery, etc.

Krause patting himself on the back for Earl Monroe always made me laugh. Monroe was a very famous college player at the time. It wasn't like he was some backwoods mystery player they rolled the dice on. He was lighting up teams in parts of the country where college basketball was most popular in the 60s. They would move games to bigger arenas when he came through town.
If they hadn't taken him second, he would have been taken the very next pick.

Reinsdorf gave Pippen an option. He told him to NOT sign the contract. IMO, Pippen has no room to talk since he signed on the dotted line.
Besides, Pippen should be glad he played for cheap because Chicago wouldn't have been able to sign the support pieces around himself & MJ to be as dominant as they were in the 2nd 3 peat.

He was underpaid and underappreciated. And I understand why Pippen did what he did. But according to the Last Dance, MJ said that Reinsdorf does not renegotiate. And then the ankle surgery was selfish. Like MJ said. And sitting out on the play for Toni. And the migraine on game 7 of a series, not saying he didn't have one, but the Bulls could've won 7 or 8. But it's not all Pippen's fault. Krause was a jackass. And Reinsdorf pulled the trigger on the Pippen and whole team. Krause was asked to do a job and he did. But Krause could've stood up for the team more. And teams win championships not organizations. And not saying they don't have a part in it. But Krause thought that whole hearted the organization does it all. Which was wrong. But just my opinion on it. It's been how many years, 20 plus or longer and we're still talking about it. That says a lot to the greatness of MJ and Pippen and the Bulls

Pip was the 2nd biggest reason why the BULLS and NBA made BILLIONS! He deserved every penny. I work in sales and i am the best 2d best salesman but get paid the 126th best commission. I will be pissed too.
Scottie had an extremely large amount of support and appreciation throughout his entire career. He was constantly being praised by his coach and teammates publicly. I can only guess as to why people keep calling him under appreciated lol. What the hell else do you want people to do for him? I don’t get it.
