They mention Jokic, Giannis, Tatum, Luka, and Embiid, but no Durant? Is this bc of Kyrie acting a fool?

I think Kevin is suffering from his own damn Consistency at this point.

The man gives you 30 every night at 2016 Steph level efficiency, but because he isn’t exploding for 50/60 points a night occasionally like Luka & Embiid, or getting 40/15/15 like Jokic, they don’t really talk about him.

He’s doing all the little things so well, passing, defending scoring etc. He sets screens for his role players as a superstar. He literally brought us out from under a coaching change and all the Kyrie drama and kept us going.

I hate it. He deserves his respect and the MVP.

  3. Honestly who cares. It really doesn’t matter who does and who doesn’t think KDs an MVP. We don’t have to get offended when people don’t bring up his name.

I said this the other day: Durant will always ‘suffer’ due to not being an explosive scorer. Kevin scores 12 points in the 1st and 3rd quarters whilst filling up gaps in other quarters to end up with 30-32 points. This season, for example, has resulted in 21 from 33 games being between 25 and 35 points.

The point is that he isn’t a ‘loud’ scorer. People were shocked with the fact he scored 55 points last season and that it was his highest ever, beating his previous 54.

He doesn’t attempt 10-15 threes a game for him to bomb 20-30 points a game from deep, he doesn’t go on these scoring runs in quarters where he’s just letting go of everything, he doesn’t score explosively enough to the point that he singlehandedly takes the game out of reach for the opposition like Steph can do, etc.

Durant’s a consistency scorer. He’ll rarely have these horrible shooting nights guys like Steph have but he won’t have these explosive nights either. On a graph, Steph will be up and down. The down will be forgiven and the up will be praised. KD will just be a consistent flat line which is like “ah…cool”. It’s not something you ‘notice’ in that sense.

Due to that, he just won’t get the recognition his skill level deserves. It’s just the way it is.

The Ringer doesn’t know basketball. Stick to your podcasts about mid movies from the 80s and we’ll go win a chip with a top 15 all time scorer not in the MVP discussion, and the 66th best player in the league leading the way.

If we end up as the 1 Seed he’ll be the MVP.
