After reading the article Simmons main point seems to be that Lowry would at least give us an adult and leader in the locker room, which to be fair, seems like the team could use.
Not sure if Lowry would actually bring enough on court production to help at all though

The Wolves do need a Kyle Lowry-esque point guard. Tough, plays D, does all the little things, flexible shooter from 3 (catch and shoot, off the bounce).
The Wolves do not need 36 year old Kyle Lowry.

VanVleet has been an interesting target to me. He is older than D’Lo and is having a down year, especially compared to D’Lo, so I wonder if we could get another asset in return as well.
They are both expiring and will probably sign for similar contracts this summer so that really isn’t an issue.
I just think that VanVleeet would be a better fit next to Ant as he can attack the basket better than D’Lo and is a better on ball defender. His shooting has really fallen off this season but he’s a better career 3P shooter than D’Lo.
I love D’Lo but I just don’t think he is a great fit next to Ant and with D’Lo playing well we should sell high to find a better pairing. VanVleet may not be the guy to go for but he’s intriguing to me if he can get back to form.

I would any day. Honestly, I’d trade KAT for a 1st and a collection of impact players that play D and hit 3s.
