Scottie Barnes & Gary Trent Jr. shine, but Toronto Raptors lose track meet to Indiana Pacers

In Episode 1312, Sean Woodley goes solo to break down the Toronto Raptors’ 122-114 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Off the top, Sean digs into how Indiana beat Toronto at its own high-octane transition game, because three points are worth more than two. He also goes on a bit of a rant about the fickle nature of the fan base around this year’s team, why there is value in still trying to win games even when things aren’t going exactly to plan, and why there is plenty of enjoyment to glean from the struggle if you recalibrate your expectations accordingly. Next, Sean takes a look at one of the best games Scottie Barnes has played all season when you factor in both ends of the floor, as he was a rim protecting menace while serving as a super-duper connector for the Raptors offense, operating largely from the middle of the floor as the nominal center. Lastly, Sean runs through the Good (Gary Trent Jr.’s shot-readiness), the Bad (awful nights from Malachi Flynn and Fred VanVleet) and the Hmm (is there anything resembling a viable bench rotation that can be salvaged here?).

  1. We just ain't as good as we thought. Yea I know after the tech the refs engineered this outcome in a painfully frustrating way. Nonetheless this team is lesser than the sum of its parts. That and uncharacteristictically terrible 3 point shooting has doomed this season.

  2. The entire opening … is an attempt to convince himself not to convince the viewer …. It’s denial of what’s right in front of himself …. Sad

  3. You need to stop flaming Malachi Flynn when Freddy is playing just as bad if not worse due to his minutes and shot attempts keep it 💯 and do not pick favourites

  4. It’s not a meltdown mentality, it’s a failure of our front office to put a real team in Nick nurses hands. It’s a failure to capitalize on Fred’s Value last year and inevitably Siakams value this year. We can’t fake a rebuild we need 5+ years of top picks if we really want to build a dynasty. I don’t mind losses, but when we’re trying to be competitive and our team looks this shambolic that is just a god awful product to be fielding night in and night out.

  5. very disappointed in some of the development – boucher and flynn. Of course Scottie too but he's in 2nd year. As for VV, i never liked him like most ppl
