I doubt he means this, but he didn’t take any kind of extension over the summer because he always bets on himself, and certainly so far he has ensured that he has hurt his value going into what will be the largest contract he may ever get to sign. He’s unfortunately, for the team and for himself, rolled all ones this year.
I don’t know if he’s likely to opt in, but maybe if he gets traded he’d consider opting in which may increase his value a bit. Give it another shot at a contract year, especially with increased cap space for a lot of teams.

Small guys with chronic back and lower body injuries tends to fall off a cliff in the blink of an eye. Look no further than Kemba Walker, Isiah Thomas, Ty Lawson, etc. I appreciate what Fred has done for this franchise but his next contract, if itās current market value, is going to become an albatross contract very quickly. He has done too much and has too much pride to come off the bench, but I think thatās his ideal role for a contending team.
