Lauri Markkanen’s three should have counted. The ball has left his hands as the clock is switching from 0.01 to 0.00.

Knicks fan here. Lauri is an all-star for sure. Love the team.

I slowed down the shot into as many increments as I could, and I found proof that the ball had already left his fingertips just as the clock was in the process of switching from 0.01 to 0.00- meaning that the game was being played at that moment.

    Utah Jazz fans got robbed.

I’m sure there’s a slight delay (maybe a tenth of a second?) between the clock shown on the TV graphics and the actual clock in the arena. Every angle I’ve looked at frame by frame, the ball hasn’t left his hand before the red lights come on around the backboard, but man… it was sooooo damn close.

The light on the backboard is the official clock. The robbing happened when an extra tenth ticked off the clock after fox made his basket. Either way, it was an incredible shot and we all love Lauri

The clock on the score bug is NOT official. The only official clock (for purposes of the clock expiring) are the lights in the backboard. Given that they are red, game over.

It was the right call. Heartbreaking way to lose, but time ran out before the ball left his hand. The clock you’ve circled isn’t the official time. The TV station could show 2 minutes on the clock down there. It doesn’t mean shit.
