Chev, agree with you. Hard to watch these games now, man. He is so stubborn and set in his ways like an old mother in-law. The last play when Giannis passed for the open three, wtf! The entire team was wandering around the basket – terrible coverage. I think it's time for a change before all the starters are dead of exhaustion and the bench guys degrade from sitting on their asses 95% of the time.
For this kind of team, there needs to be a coach that holds ALL players accountable. I hear some Steve Nash recommendations and these people must be crazy. Steve Nash is a nice guy. The Raptors do not need nice guys to coach because these are the same guys that cater to certain players and are afraid of adjustments. As soon as Nash stepped down, the Nets are a much better coached team through Vaughn. When a player is on one of their worst shooting slumps of their career, a competent coach will play him less and let others get an opportunity. Playing their starters almost 40+ MPG and having 3 of the 5 players in the starting lineup in the top 5 in minutes played is a recipe for disaster. Coaching is definitely an issue with this team.
Also, it confuses me when people claim these are the same schemes as the 2019 championship roster and that Nick needs to adjust. I completely disagree with this statement. These schemes started in 2020, after Kawhi left. The team were the best in 3 point shot contest in the league this year. Since it was so successful, Nurse has been riding these schemes out to this very day. The biggest difference, you had Ibaka and Gasol in 2020 which made these schemes much smoother when you had those guys in the paint. When they both left, this forces guys to double-triple team certain players (Embiid, Giannis, Luka, etc..) which leaves guys wide open from 3. In 2019, these were not the same sets Nurse ran because it wasn't necessary. He had the personnel to keep guys in front of the offense and guys that are capable of grabbing a rebound. Nurse is a problem, but we have to look at the front office for the team they built. Clearly this 6'8"+ lineup project is not working when no one can shoot outside of 5 feet of the basket.
Its time for Nurse to step down. Its just time. He is a very good coach but at times there is a disconnect between the coach and the team. I would like to see how the existing team does with the next coach. However, with next coach there will no longer be any excuses.

I think the Tors would be foolish to let NN go. They've played without a centre for three freakin' years and have done squat to bolster a lame bench. I think they owe it to him to get at least one centre who can play and see what happens. A legit centre is the missing piece of both their offence and D. I still preach patience – management gotta plug the centre hole that's grown to a chasm. It may sound like an exaggeration but I feel like Otto really would have made a difference in many of these close games. Keep fighting Tors!
This season is even worse than Tampa .
I think his days are numbered anyway. He hasn’t shown an ability to coach younger players with his short leash. It looks like we could be getting younger and I’m not sure NN is right for Barnes. Watson is the there chomping at the bit of he is out the door.
He should have gone to the lakers when he had chance . I can’t believe Masai compared him to Messi and Ronaldo lol.

I agree chev, on a national broadcasting level, the first two quarters made NN and his staff totally incompetent. Just totally lost. He has no clue, no clue what to do with this roster. He's done
My opinion is we should try to ride the season out with Nurse and make a few trade moves by trade deadline but if we fail to pass the play-in or fail to make the playoffs then I agree he should go.

This scheme has fred and gary coming in from the corners before help is required, to help longer guys who still have position on the ball handler. This was supposed to stop.

At this point I'd rather be one of the ten teams that don't make the playoffs outright. Trade anyone not named Scottie, OG or is from Cameroon. A top 10 pick will help this team more than anything. Let NN captain the sinking ship find your guy in the offseason.

Yikes well that’s the circle of life if we have to move on so be it. The question is WHO would qualify to helm next? The expectations will high and the transition of power will be interesting.
The Raptors play the knicks tomorrow Portland on Sunday will be tough and two games against Charlotte next week are must win games. They lose those games against Charlotte I'm really curious to see what happens after. The Orlando losses were bad but the reality of the situation, January in my opinion is a make or break it month for this team after those two games against Charlotte next week the schedule the rest of the month is tough. Yes they are only I believe for games out of the 6th spot currently but they can't keep drooping games. I'm always going to remain hopeful that they can turn it around and that has to happen like tomorrow.
Never underestimate the players just not doing what they are told. I tried to start a company and had employees simply not do what they were told. Or worse. They would do it poorly and say my plan was not good. Poor execution is not proof that he is not doing it right necessarily.
Could somebody please explain to me what is the use of this ridiculous three man weave that the Raptors are always running. To me it seems like all that does is cut into our 24 second shot clock, and for what??
@chev if they are going to be bad enough for a lottery pick this year, and pieces are gonna be sold off for first round picks this year. I dont think nick nurse is the coach to be developing young talent. Thats simply the reality, he wont play young players and let them play through mistakes. the question is whats siakim gonna be thinking if they are rebuilding. if siakam doesnt get his all nba cuz he is on a lottery team and he loses his supermax, he is gonna be pissed. so the question also has to be asked will siakim be willing to play on a rebuilding team for 2-3 years. likely not. if that the situation then you move him before you have to pay him, while his value is at an all time high before trade deadline, or in the summer.

So Nick Nurse was asked if him and the front office are on the same page with the decisions and direction the team is going. He said 100%. Which makes me believe that he won't get fired but he will be on a tighter leash.

Using this communist cookie cutter offense that only features Siakim and Fred in iso's and then sets up everybody else for threes equally is retarted. We need to get more out of Scottie. He had like 20 points last night in the fourth quarter and overtime just based off of attacking the basket. I don't think he will be able to flourish within the confines of NN's offense, who just values people being able to make three point shots. It's like dude, look at your players. I think he even restricted OG's development by only using him for his corner three ability, when in reality he could have a reliable mid-range jumper by now. And last night, when we were shooting 8% from the field, he doesn't put in Hernangomez until the fourth quarter, and doesn't put Dowtin in at all. We should have lost that game by 40.

I agree chev he needs to make some changes but at the same time we’ve seen what his defence can do when everyone is locked in and playing good d while also hitting shots this team is amazing we’ve seen it against Cleaveland multiple times. But I don’t think they fire him during the season I think they make some moves at the deadline see if it works out and if not he’s probably out in the off-season since I think it’s his last year anyways next season on his contract. If we get a proper pg that can run the offence like a Kyle Lowry type and then a center so that og or pascal don’t have to guard the opposing teams centers and pick up fouls that should really help this team out and the absolute dream would be a bench along with a pg and center.

Bc maple leafs did it to a very tough and by the book coach with reputation and they haven't progressed in the playoffs ever since.
