We’re excited to announce that r/NBA is going to be launching a beta stream on [www.playback.tv](http://www.playback.tv) where users can watch sports live while engaging with the community. We have a room set up where you can watch, chat and hang out — all on one screen, in real time. Imagine how the game threads are currently, but you can watch the game with our community and comment real time.
The goal of this is to provide the /r/NBA community a place to all watch the same stream in the same place at the same time and augment the current game thread experience.
The first playback stream is going to be Thursday, January 12, 2022 at 7:30PM EST for the Celtics vs Nets game. The game starts at 7:30pm EST, however you’re going to want to get to the stream as early as possible as we’ll be limiting spots to only 600 for the beta stream. In order to participate in the stream, you’ll be required to sign in through a cable provider (or any other service you use to watch NBA games such as YoutubeTV, Hulu, or League Pass).

I’m sure they will be civil chatrooms!
Good. I’m not gonna miss reading the chatrooms that say “RIP (Insert NBA Superstar Name)
sounds pretty awful.
Had me in the first half, not gonna lie
Oh that sounds kind of cool…
>you’ll be required to sign in through a cable provider.
Or not.
I can just chat with people on here in the game thread without paying for cable bullshit.
If the game is blacked out will you still be able to watch?
Does YouTube TV count as a cable provider?
Lmfao what is the point if you just have to sign in through a cable provider?? We already have the nba live chats to discuss
Do other sport subreddits take sponsorship opportunities like this?
This is not tied to the NBA like a AMA, it’s a separate platform that’s not even specifically for the NBA
Im sure this has something to do with mining data
Cable provider , what is this, 2005?
Yeah get a cable sub so you can watch a stream worse than cable. Just another way reddit trying to mine data imo
