It must SUCK seeing Jaden step on the court to guard you. You think a screen will save you? That’s hilarious. Unfortunately, he will slither through screens and correctly guess how you’ll react. He’ll match your angles and pace to stay with you. He’ll surround you with his lanky arms to mess with your spatial awareness…sorry you cannot escape Jaden McDaniels. Even he doesn’t realize how long his arms. “I don’t really notice how long my arms are, so sometimes I be right there and now I’m just going to try to dunk it sometimes.” (McDaniels, 2022)
It’s worse because he hustles and is willing to chase you down every possession. Jaden has covered 1.4 miles of distance on defense per 75 possessions (97th percentile). You can give up and settle for the jumpshot, but he’ll likely contest your three (93rd percentile). He is a menace as a perimeter defender and uses his lanky arms to disrupt passing lines, steal the ball and force turnovers.
