The spurs have been run poorly all this time it’s not surprising. I speak for all of the NBA fans when I say that we are glad the Spurs are finally being exposed. Poor Dejounte and everything he had to go through. I’m so glad he’s somewhere where he can be happy.

When Jackson says they hold you back I'm like what. Kawhi was finals mvp, all nba teams, 2 time DPOY, after he left spurs he has been all star 2 times and finals mvp that's it he has not been top 5 in mvp sense he left. Dejounte was all nba defense and all star with spurs lets see what he does but jackson just jealous bcs he was not chosen over manu and tony for big 3.
Been a spurs fan for decades.. since the 80s. Love the spurs. Live in san Antonio but murray and jackson and leonard have a point. Pop is set in his way. Whatever you say you cant out say anything about his title runs. Problem is as time goes by you start to see that tim duncan got these titles more than it is pop. Pop is a great coach he's the man in many ways but his system doesn't work anymore. The NBA doesn't play defense anymore its almost punished if you do. As far as parker i think everyone in san Antonio knows he's an asshole, great player but a turd.

I still love me some DJ regardless of where he plays. That said, they were teaching him how to be and become a pro imo. It's hard for players at this level to not feel a sense of entitlement because they've always been "The Guy," especially guys with as much potential as DJ, but that mindset can typically lead to division within a team. It's hard for ppl to check their ego in any workplace, much less in an environment such as the NBA. I hope this is something DJ learned from as I feel he learned a lesson not uncommon from most imo. I don't think anyone is wrong in this situation to be honest. I hope things work out in ATL.

Tough watching as a Spurs fan, but irregardless of the slight spurs shade, DJ is a real one. His honesty with himself shows in this interview and you can tell he is comfortable in his own skin. He has been through a lot of turmoil, but he still has room to mature and be a more humble player on the court (his antics with the rockets as an example). It's obvious the spurs system don't work for everyone on a personality level, but you cannot deny how integral Pop and SA was for DJ. I think it was more of DJ's narcissistic young ego more than the Spurs' 'mind games' that lead him to feel the way he felt. But it's worked out for him either way. The spurs have nothing but love for DJ, just wished he could have realized that nothing is personal when you not in the rotation early or when you not getting that response or respect that you want. He had a lot of vets ahead of him in SA, but more importantly you have to be coachable in terms of respecting the opponent and the game. From his recent antics with the rockets and Paolo; it sounds like DJ struggled with that aspect under Pop.

Tony Parker is selfish yet he, along with Ginobili and Duncan, took paycuts after paycuts to build a legacy. Not one great/hall of famer has to stay back and mentor anyone. How many rookies came into the league and not once was ever mentored? That happens all the time and yet these players don’t say a word. Murray knows he couldn’t carry a team. It showed then, it shows now. They probably told him “we no longer need you” and he’s mad. Stephen Jackson stays mad. The only organization that kept him humble, he trashes. Is this another feather in the cap of Tim Duncan? All I heard for twenty years was how he went to a winning organization with world class culture and staff. When in reality, before he got there they had 5 coaches in 8 years, couldn't handle drama (The Worm) and were planning to leave Texas. Then suddenly the draft a singular player and for 19 years the only issue that came out of SA was Parker shagging Brent Barry's wife. Since he retired we've seen the Kawhi disaster, LMA threaten to retire, Parker leave as a FA and multiple stars (DeRozan/Murray) fail to be managed properly by Pop, himself sitting at 23 games under .500 without Old Man Riverwalk. They are now tanking again like they did in 96 to get him in the first place.
