A win in a game that wasn’t even close since the second quarter??
That’s not Jazz basketball

You guys have some solid shooters and great finishers. I was curious though since I only know Hayward from his time in charlotte— why is he hated in Utah?

Don’t mean to over react or anything, but we’re winning the chip

GAME NOTES:
Lauri Markkanen, as always, had a great game. 25 points 11 rebounds, 8-14 shooting. He’s gotta be an all star no doubt. I’ll riot if he isn’t selected
Jordan Clarkson had a great 3rd quarter where he scored 12 of his 18 on 6-8 shooting. Great quarter compared to his other 3.
Mike Conley and Walker Kessler put this game away in the 4th. Conley came alive offensively, and Kessler was put back in despite foul trouble to get 13 & 9 with 4 offensive rebounds tonight. Plumlee outplayed him, but Plumlee is a solid center. Kessler still looked good, especially that 4th quarter.
Surprisingly, THT led the Jazz with assists. He played a great game, made great reads with the ball and was driving well. 3-6 shooting, 7 points 6 assists in 21 minutes. +21 too! I’m happy for THT. He really played solid all around ball. Wasn’t forcing anything, and I feel he earned his minutes. His passing game is something I wasn’t expecting, and if he can even do half of that in his minutes, I think he will be a good enough facilitator as a second option or something.
I would give THT the nod as our game MVP. Lauri played a great game, but that’s expected. I was genuinely shocked at the passing and defense THT gave us tonight. He was not out of control at all.
We didn’t do the best job taking care of the ball, we had 16 turnovers compared to 14 for the Hornets. However, it doesn’t matter when playing a team like the Hornets
We played amazingly on the perimeter for defense. We got killed by points in the paint, but our guys made it damn near impossible to hit a 3. 2-16 is what the Hornets shot from 3, with Terry Rozier hitting their only triples
Our rotations were really good tonight in my opinion. We didn’t force our starters to play 30+, and Hardy rotated who he played. Agbaji, THT, Sexton, Vando, Beaslsey, Clarkson, Conley, Kessler, and Markkanen all had 20+ minutes. It helped eliminate Beasley chucking himself out of rhythm, and gave guys like Agbaji and THT good reps
Agbaji had a scary fall in the 3rd, but came back with his wrist taped up. Hopefully it isn’t a lingering thing, he did come back and play in the 4th
The hornets are a dysfunctional team. I feel bad for their fans. No real direction, even when LaMelo plays.
Vando didn’t do much scoring, but had the second most assists on our team. 4 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds 2 steals in his 21 minutes. 4-4 from the free throw line
The biggest issues I saw tonight was turnovers, interior D, and assists. I just want us to be able to sling the ball around, we play so much better when we make the extra pass. Usually Conley does a great job at this, but we weren’t as aggressive tonight as I wanted them to be. Still won by 18, but I like aggressiveness.
Not much else to say. Just a good team beating a bad team in areas they should. Even though we didn’t pass as much and turned the ball over, we beat them with our perimeter defense and making life hard for Rozier, virtually their only offensive player.

Finally we slap up a shit team and put them away comfortably

man we really have a bit of a logjam at guard. NAW has played really well this year and he’s only getting garbage time right now, but THT played great this game. And Mike, JC, and Sexton all deserve minutes too. Guess it’s a good problem to have though.

This is a good, honest .500 basketball team. We play .500 ball goddammit. Salt of the earth, punch the clock, even win/loss ratio basketball. We lose a couple, guess what? We’ll win a couple, too. But don’t get too excited or let it go to your head. No long winning streaks here, no sir. That’s hubris, which this blue collar, hard working everyman team doesn’t have. A few wins in a row, these guys, true to form, will balance it out with a couple a losses.
Yes sir, that’s my 2022-2023 Utah Jazz. A good, honest .500 basketball team.
