People, the second best shooter in the league is worth more than a single first. Jesus christ.

Duarte on the other hand, give him to phoenix for jae crowder

  2. chancho21

buddy is an elite role player, and Duarte’s production is elite compared to his rookie salary. I’d say buddy is worth an unprotected 1st and Duarte is worth at a minimum a top-10 protected 1st IMO

Buddy for Hart, Winslow (this move makes sense to me if Portland moves Ant for OG so their lineup would be Dame – Hield – OG – Grant – Nurkic)

Buddy for Dorian Finney-Smith, Javale McGee, and Mavs 2026 FRP

Buddy + Duarte + Hou 2RP for D’angelo Russell and Jaden McDaniels

Buddy for Joe Harris, Cam Thomas, and the 23 FRP from Hou or Philly (idk the protections on this but i assume it’ll be Philly’s FRP we’d receive)

Buddy for Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jovic, top-12 protected 2025 FRP

Buddy for Patrick Beverly, Lonnie Walker IV, and 2027 FRP

Buddy + Duarte for Fournier, Toppin, and 23 FRP via Wizards (not sure what the protections are but Knicks have their FRP and Detroits FRP in 2023 so they got at least one pick to give us here)

these are all deals that pass the trade machine and bring back some kind of draft capital and/or young player. not sure i like any of these personally but i aimed to find deals with teams that are popping up in rumors as buyers on the market. think any team would want Buddy’s shooting frankly but his contract is tricky to find partners in a deal.

Hot take. I don’t think we should move Buddy.

i’d rather keep buddy for depth, he’s a good shooter and has devolved other traits for us, you need good shooters in the playoffs.

i love buddy i feel like we’d be shit without him.

  7. KyleRaynerGotSweg

Buddy has proven to be really solid for us, plus he and Hali are boys so I don’t want to ruin that chemistry.

  8. Buddy is cheaper next year and I think we could keep him with the cap going up. He also has the kind of shooting that isn’t replaceable. Think about it, how many times have we been torched by an opposing 3PT specialist and wished we had that kind of threat. Now we have one and we’re talking about offloading him.

My stance has changed on Buddy, at first I wanted to trade him but now I don’t really want to. I think Buddy could be great for us just in a different role off the bench. I don’t care about trading Chris tbh.

Saw another that said Buddy OR Duarte. Would make more sense. Duarte for Toppin seems likely

Neither are great at defense nor big on rebounding. Hield has been solid for us but for the right piece, I understand the desire.

It will need to be the right trade but I’d get rid of Duarte before his value lowers any more.

I really hope we don’t deal away Buddy. I think we’d be dumb to give him up

  13. No-Win9132

God I hope they don’t trade Buddy… you can tell he loves playing with this team and he seems to be one of the vets and leaders that this team needs… he’s really not even that old anyways and if he’s “just a shooter,” there’s no reason he wont be around for a while… he also doesn’t have a huge injury history (from what I’m aware of) which just adds to that I feel like

  14. danny-o4603

It’s odd to trade the #1 ,, 3 point shooter in the league. Maybe we’ll get someone who’s good at shooting the 3?

  15. ChrisBenRoy

There is a reply to that tweet that says it would take 3 first AND BENNEDICT MATHURIN to get OG Anunoby. NBA Twitter takes about Pacers trades are INSANE

“if it’s Amick, it might stick. If it’s Amico, you can let it go”.

You keep Buddy as a starter or you trade him, he will not react well to being moved to the bench. He played his best ball coming off the bench when he was with the Kings and he was NOT happy about it. I still think Buddy can be part of the Pacers’ core but you have to handle him correctly.

  18. i don’t think either of them are essential pieces of our five-year timeline, but they could be on that team. i trust the front office in this case if they decide to deal them for the right offer, just like they did for Sabonis and for Paul George

  19. Showyaman

I think as Pacer fans we like Buddy and his shooting and the wins he brings. Had we traded him this team wouldn’t be as fun to watch, and who knows how bad it would be without the chemistry between him and Hali?
