This seems kind of dubious. Matchup difficulty doesn’t tell you who is or isn’t better. There are a lot of reasons why a team might not put a player on the toughest match-up.
Giannis, for example, is more valuable as a help defender. Putting him on a weaker defender lets him roam more. And then players with high USG on offense get put on worse players to save energy.
And are there any details about what the onball defense metric being used is? No all-in-one defensive metrics are perfect.
