it’s because bron loves his white guards who play hard + lakers fans have been desperate for a guy who plays with caruso’s energy

I played against Caruso in HS. He had hair. But you could tell he was leagues ahead of us in skill. He must’ve trained so hard for the NBA he lost his hair

Caruso is closer in play style to a Pat Bev that doesn’t shoot than Austin Reaves. Austin Reaves is more like Danny Ainge.
Per 36 numbers their 24th year:
Reaves:
13.4/3.8/2.8 .7 STL .5 BLK 64.5 % TS
Ainge:
12/3.6/5.1 1.3 STL .1 BLK 49.8 % TS
In later years Ainge’s shooting increased to 57% which is about where he was for his career.
They both have a scrappy win at any costs style of play and are roughly the same type of build.
I came to the Danny comparison after rewatching the finals series between the Lakers and Celtics in 85-86. We all like to talk about the Celtics big three, but it really was guys like Danny that filled in the gaps to make it all work right. He was also huge on the Suns teams later in his career. I really hated watching him hit shots against the Lakers in those days. I hope Reaves stays a Laker because that seems like the kind of player he is.

They play nothing alike and Caruso was a legit plus athlete.
Reaves isn’t as athletic but I think he’s a more consistent offensive player (not just scoring but passing and ball handling). That makes him jack of all trades and different than Caruso.

so reaves is _not_ sneaky athletic?
Caruso is really athletic and pretty much relies on his athleticism for defense and fast breaks. I feel like any white dude that comes out of nowhere will be compared to Caruso now
Racial profiling sucks
People literally refuse to compare a white player to another player of a different race. Like if a white player comes out and plays just like Tracy McGrady, he’ll probably still be compared to Larry Bird. I even get annoyed hearing this shit during pickup basketball Lol.
