He was the DPOY last season also before he got hurt.

Apparently the “voters” didn’t care enough to watch our games in 2014-15 season. A lot of East coast “analysts” didn’t even bother to vote for him. Lost the award race by 16 pts despite more 1st place votes than Klaw (Kawhi had 16 more voters on his side)

Best defender of all time*.
Yea I said it, and idgaf because it’s the truth.

East coast voters are an absolute joke. As are most award voters in general tbh.

It is legitimately insane. Draymond is a HOF’er and Rudy Gobert was randomly handed multiple DPOY that he didn’t deserve
boraras
Related fun fact: Tim Duncan never won a DPOY.

Years Draymond was the best defender
2015 2016 2017 2022

4 chips though, and has been the best defensive player in so many playoffs. That’s what matters.

He’s won twice in my mind. Everyone knows that first kawhi win is fraudulent as hell

Dray is great, but I cant stand they slander yall are throwing at gobert and giannis. Dont act like its an insane snub that he doesnt have 8 DPOY. Gobert was the ENTIRE defense on the jazz. The whole thing.

And Gobert having 3 is even worse 💀

Duncan won zero. DPoY & 6th man are notoriously poorly selected though nba history. Iguodala never winning 6th man as a warrior is pretty terrible too.
I get that in 2016 they didn’t want to give the warriors the mvp, coach of the year, & 6th man, but Kerr missed half the season and won CotY but Iguodala, who was a crucial part of the death lineup, lost because Jamal Crawford scored more points, give Iguodala his award and give a different coach the CotY.
Mygaffer
It’s 100% political, there was one asshole voter, Steve Kyler the POS, that literally admitted he only didn’t vote for him for DPOY that year because he didn’t like his personality.
Luckily we live in an era where basketball is super well documented, we not only have HD video of all the games saved for perpetuity but we have all the podcasts, even now podcasts with players telling their own stories, these are records that will last for the foreseeable future.
Imagine if we had all this for Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem, Bill Russell, and even the more recent past where we have plenty of video but not a lot of the coverage and personal accounts that we get today, enabled largely by the internet and ubiquity of smart phones.
So should Draymond have more awards? I can definitely say he should won over Kawhi in 2016 and 2015. There are other seasons you could argue about but the fact is that politics cost him those awards. Which is why I’m not in love with awards in general or their selection process.
It’s also why I place much more importance on what guys produce on the court.
1 DPOY or 4, it is very documented at the highest mother fucking level what the 4x champion Draymond Green has done to impact winning at the highest levels.
[I hate to even *think* about it but we can’t forget the only reason we had a chance in that 2016 game 7. ](https://youtu.be/hZYyvMsdZic?t=58)
So basically I’m saying I’m not worried, no one is going to forget this man, he’s been such a unique defensive force, the ultimate roaming help defender, the guy who:
Oh and we know about hitting a buzzer beating game winner but what about defensive game winners? [Draymond knows that.](https://youtu.be/E-mAy0Bb3TA)
As you can see, it’s all documented, no one can forget the greatness. Hopefully not even the fans, I remember reading some kind of foul shit on here about Draymond was going to be out with “no Steph” injury when Steph went down and it ended up being Draymond who played through some things and was the steady force the team needed to have that good home stretch.
