Imagine if the Pelicans had been in negotiations with Portland and said we don’t want CJ, we want Dame. They wouldn’t have got anything. They woulda never turned their season around and Zion probably makes a trade request. So I say all that to say stop chasing Kevin Durant and go get Christian Wood. Portland is not good enough to stand Pat. They have to make a move. And nurkic is not going to get any better. He’s in his prime and the blazers are about to miss the playoffs. CHANGES HAVE TO BE MADE.
What we need to do is choose a direction; rebuild or win now. In other words, trade Dame/Grant or trade Ant/Sharpe. I don't see Ant ever being a star in this league and Sharpe is a complete wild card. We have a top 10 player on our roster for the first time since Drexler, so I think the best option is to win now.
Portland needs a center. I wonder if Golden State would accept Keon Johnson for James Wiseman. Low cost potential. At least we would have more size.

I appreciate your optimism even though I am not feeling it myself. Missing size right now doesn't seem great for winning. I'll be happier when the deadline happens just so we know what they have moving forward. Right now I'm all nervous about a crap trade.
Kevin Durant is very very good at playing basketball, but in his 15 year carear. He's done nothing to show that he is or can be either the driver or even the missing piece of a championship team.
In short acquiring Kevin Durant for Simons & Sharpe. Would be striking out. He's very, very good at playing basketball, but doesn’t make teams better. He's had 15 years to show otherwise.
If they should wait until the off season to make a serious trade, it seems like a tank for a lottery pick to sweeten the pot would be the best plan for this season. How often does a team rebuild into a contender after a vsingle tank season anyway?
