I know we usually don’t care about standings but being 1 seed has a big advantage this year: 1. You don’t face either of the Celtics or the 6ers in the 2nd round 2. 6ers and Cs have to face each other in a grueling second round series before they face us and we saw how that affected the Cs last year

  1. Assuming the standings hold through 30 games, yes.

We can and should secure that 1st seed by the All Star Game.

Edit: forgot about the biggest advantage, which is home court advantage throughout all of postseason

  4. If you ask me which I prefer: being the first seed or having all the players healthy in the playoffs, I would take the latter every damn time.

I get a feeling Boston is going to try harder at getting the one seed. They’re younger, disgruntled from losing in the finals and thus have a bigger chip on their shoulders, and I feel like they think they have something to prove. It’s very similar to how the Suns blew the west away with 60+ wins and secured the one seed after they lost and how we worked hard to secure them back in 2019+2020

That’s not to say we won’t try to secure it, but I don’t see it as the end of the world if we do not

I lived 56 years before I saw the word “6ers” lol

Fans care about it more than coaches. Coaches care about it more than players.

It’s just not that big of a deal. The East is deep enough that all of the round 2 series’ will be grueling. The effort to beat the 76ers is unlikely to be all that different from the effort to beat the Nets or Miami or the Cavs.

Home court advantage literally doesn’t matter to anyone except fans and owners.

It’s just so hard to care about NBA regular season wins and losses. I care about watching teams play to see how they play and if they’re trying out different things to see what might work in the playoffs.

  8. It’s going to be really hard to tell how things shake out.

Nets are looking like big buyers, and yeah they’ve been struggling but are still in the hunt even with KD out. KD was a monster during their Nov-Dec run.

Cavs have something we have struggled to defend: blazing fast guards. Our games with them this year have been tough.

The Celtics are who we thought they were. We gotta get a win on them in the next game or it’s gonna seem like their in our heads. They look like their having some chemistry issues lately, might be selling Grant. That would be in our favor.

No concern whatsoever for the Sixers.

  9. Bucks home record is 23-5 and away is 14-12. So something else to consider. A game 7 at home is a big advantage.

Let’s get that first seed. We will be undefeated at home with a healthy lineup

Maybe I’m just a Philly hater or maybe I’m too high on Cleveland but a potential Cavaliers series honestly makes me more nervous than a potential Sixers ones.

If the top 4 stay the top 4 the Celtics will have to play the cavs and the bucks play the 76ers. Both are good and could potentially pull off an upset so either way I’m not worried, as long as we play the Celtics in the ECF I’m chilling

I think you’re really underestimating the Cavs with this. The Cavs have the best defensive rating in the NBA and the 2nd best net rating in the NBA. They also got a taste of the playoffs last year and added a leader with a good amount of playoff experience and a 28.3 PPG career playoff scoring average.

There’s no easy out in the second round. Personally, I’d rather face the Sixers than the Cavs.

Edit: Another thing to consider is that our schedule is MUCH tougher going forward. We have an absurd 7 back to backs left on the schedule, after only having 5 so far. That’s a full 1/4 of our games on a back to back, many likely without some or all of our stars. That’s in addition to two more road games than home games.

  14. I want that home court we’ve been significantly better at home

  15. classicolanser

Anyone else look at this and think we should be tied with the Celtics because of the missed foul call on lebron when they played the Celtics? I know it doesn’t matter really but it still gets me mad lol

OH we SHOULD care about standings. All those saying that it doesnt matter since we should be able to beat everyone never consider the toll it takes on the body of a player. Especially the likes of Giannis that bangs as hard as he does. He deserves an easier second round.

    Chase that first spot please….

  17. Just keeping Giannis, Khris, Jrue and even Brook healthy probably matters more than the standings. Give me a healthy Bucks core over the #1 seed any day.

Maybe I’ll end up being wrong but Philly hasn’t shown they can consistently win in the playoffs and Harden definitely hasn’t. They don’t really have anyone who can guard Giannis either.

Boston is the biggest problem and it would be nice to see someone take them out. It’s tough to picture how the road to the finals doesn’t run through Boston or Milwaukee at this point though.
