I know we just lost to the Celtics and this sub is sulking, and we didn’t pick up a good backup big before the deadline, but I’m not quite ready to shit on Morey yet. People seem to forget how much better he is than the mf he replaced. Dude got us harden for Seth/Drummond/Simmons, imagine if we were still stuck with Ben’s contract lmao.
I’m pissed at Morey right now for sure, but I haven’t lost all faith yet. Would y’all rather be stuck with Colangelo?
Edit: I still think it’s on Doc for not maximizing the potential of the roster through quality rotations way more than it’s on Morey for how he assembled it.

The big difference is morey has next to no wiggle room because of the contracts signed before he got here in tobias harris. Basically every move morey has made has been a good one and yes that includes tucker.

It amazes me how quickly people forget that Morey turned one of the worst contracts in the league that also refused to play for us into James Harden when half the idiots in this sub were calling him a stupid and greedy the whole time. He also made one of the best trades of the season by bringing over Melton. He’s easily a top 3 executive in the league, yet here with are with a crew of 15 year olds that think they know better.
Sometimes, there just isn’t a deal to be made, especially without a ton of assets, salary cap room, or teams being willing to essentially help the 4th best record in the league plug our main hole.

Football is much easier. Every year is essentially a reboot with the goal of being better than 3 teams. You have to think longterm in the NBA. And boy we didn’t do that. It’s hard to win a championship and we had a top 5 player for almost a decade now. Wtf!!!

Yes, we need a backup 5 but ask yourself do we have enough talent to win it? Yes we do! Now we just have to go do it. The Celtics game, was indeed a bad loss but let’s not go crazy, Maxey and Tobi not gonna produce 10 points on 25 shots probably regularly. Go Sixers!

Morey’s real challenge is this offseason. Tobi will be on the last year of the deal so teams may actually take it and we can hopefully turn that waste of a contract into useful players and give Embiid and Harden one final shot. And hopefully a second round exit means doc gets fired
