Nina Westbrook (Russ’ wife) reacts to Dave McMenamin’s comment about Russ being compared to a ‘vampire’: “This is just sick ESPN…Russell is no vampire.”

>This is just sick ESPN… Russell is no vampire. This is also slander because anyone who knows anything knows that this couldn’t be further from the truth. On a personal note, I have school aged children who have to listen to their peers repeat the nasty things that you guys say on television about their father. I guess I will prepare myself to explain to my 5 year old that his dad is not actually a vampire, and that major news outlets only say things like that to get attention.

Seems like the comment(s) is affecting their children as well. Kind of feel bad for how the media is portraying Russell Westbrook now. The past couple of weeks he was a leading candidate for 6th man of the year and now he’s surrounded by all this drama.

However, it’s nice to see that Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony and several other NBA players have his back.

Vampire is such a weird fucking comment to make

Ngl. It’s kinda funny people saying he isn’t a vampire. Like yes, we know he’s not a fictional supernatural immortal monster that sucks people’s blood and sleeps in a coffin.

sports journalism is just a big weird cesspool

  4. I wonder who the next scapegoat will be. All the attention will probably go towards Ham.

  5. WarCuntSkyFuck

Well fuckin LeBron invited him through the door

Some of the Westbrook criticism has been straight up dehumanizing

“Last night we had garlic in our dinner and this morning I saw his reflection through a mirror and everything.”

I couldn’t find the post, was it deleted ?

I’ve never been a big Russ fan but that comment from McMenamin to be pretty gross.

If folks don’t like his on-court play that’s one thing. But he’s done nothing off the court to warrant this type of disrespect.

  11. brianpaulandaya

Yeah he’s a bad basketball player now, but you can’t say he’s a bad teammate when multiple teammates of his has come to his defense when that was in question, multiple times already actually.

dave mcmenamin is what everyone thought windhorst was. spread wide for lebron. dude is gross and weird.

  13. He meant that Russ is an energy vampire.

He’s constantly showing up to local city council meetings and replies on Yahoo News articles.

I like how no one actually listened to the segment. He was quoting a laker exec verbatim. It’s not his choice of words.

Am I missing something? Is Vampire a slur or something in the US?

  16. jm810112

His efficiency has gone to hell but the guy shows up and plays hard every single night. The disrespect to a future hall of famer is crazy.

Use the proper terminology, he’s a “Day Walker”. Blade would be offended.

As much as I’m not a Westbrook fan on the lakers, these guys are insane the amount of disrespect he’s been getting. He wasn’t a good fit. He can thrive in other situations but the lakers aren’t it. He was great on the wizards and the second half of the rockets.

  19. That is my son you’re talking about. My son would never be a vampire. That is my son. How dare you talk about my ~~vampire~~ son like that.

Like y’all are any better on this sub

Man why is everyone clutching their pearls over this? It means he had a bad attitude and negatively impacted the locker room. Which, by all indications especially with recent reporting about his interactions with Ham, appears to be true.

The Westbrook’s always gotta explain things to their kids. Lol.

I can’t take anyone here about Russ seriously. The moral outrage flips on whenever you feel like people might notice you’re a bad person.

Calling him a vampire is so mild compared to a lot of the shit he unrightfully got called in LA, but this is the hill that people die on.

  24. Mediocre_Peanut7615

Is LeBron actually a good locker room guy ? He’s been passive aggressive and condescending towards his teammates for as long as I can remember, especially since he became a full-time GM. Maybe it’s him.

  25. Nukitandog

I thought being a vampire was OK these days. Full disclosure I haven’t seen twilight only true blood.

I hear they’re reforming the Dawnguard. Vampire hunters, or something, in the old fort near Riften. Might consider joining up myself.
