The fact we kept FVV is ridiculous 😒 , if we pay him 30 million im seriously over it and ill just watch my back up team in the spurs … very disappointed

Hey Ben, don't forget there's also the unsigned player market right after this, players who have been waived. There is still a potential to add some shooting from that avenue. Also, one of Masai's criticisms of Nurse was that he has been giving inconsistent minutes to Dalano and Malachi, so he's hoping that would improve as well going into the future.
One thing Masai must not be getting, at the end of the season, these guys can walk and the teams can sign them in free agency without having to trade. These players are worth more now than they will be with half a season left on their contracts.
You missed his comment about the young guys needing to play. Sounds like he's talked to Nurse about it. It also sounds like they'll be evaluating Nurse's performance based on what he does for the rest of the year. Hopefully Poeltl gives him a reason to feel brave enough to go deeper down the bench. If not, maybe Ujuri gave him a reason.
I liked what the Raptors did. Masai needs the rest of the season to assess his players and to see who he wants to retain moving forward and for how much. Also, with an actual center, this team can possibly end up at the 6th spot. If they go in the playoffs hot, anything can happen. If they continue to struggle, at least Masai has larger sample size to convince him to move on from this core. Trades can be made in the summer.
They were buyers and they didn't get what they wanted in low ball offers . Bulls Hawks Raps all didn't do much …these teams all are going for the play in. Not the strategy I would have gone with but like OG said "it is what It is" 🤷♂️ GO Raps !

Unless Delano develops a better handle where he isn’t turning over the ball as much as he is, he won’t last long in NBA. I would have moved him ahead of the 2024 1st pick if that was ever possible

We are a bottom five shooting team in the league and we added a guy who can't shoot at all in a go for it move. In Masai we trust?
Masai is burning bridges. Trades have to be mutually beneficial. There are only so many GM's in desperation that can be preyed upon. He risks loosing assets because his asking price is so steep.
I’m happy with the raptors trade deadline. Finish out the season, see how FVV and Trent do. If Fred does good, sign him back. If Gary does good sign him also. We can get rid of OTTO and another bench player for some extra capital/money to sign them. Worse case scenario we trade OG in the off season.
But the question is, why OG is healthy what is our starting lineup? We move GTJ to the bench again and he might leave us. Put Jakob on the bench he might also leave us. My starting 5 would be…
PG: Fred
SG: Trent
SF: Barnes
PF: Siakam
C: Jakob
Bench: OG, Precious, Boucher, Flynn, Thad, Koloko, Gomez.
So, now Raps have GTJ, FVV and Poeltl all looking for big paydays this off-season with both Pascal & OG extension eligible? Who starts now? Poeltl, Siakam, OG, GTJ, FVV? Barnes to the bench? If GTJ is benched he will most likely leave in the off-season as a free agent & Raps could end up with nothing in return. Poeltl could also get a better offer elsewhere. FVV could just walk away for nothing as well. Or Raps could be forced to take on another Dragic like contract/situation and/or trade away another FRP for a grizzled vet like Thad Young in a S&T. Now, Masai says the Raps need a center, wow. It's been over 3 years since Ibaka & Gasol left the roster. If Raps make the playoffs/play-in they are one & done anyways. Off-season could be a big mess.

Love Masai but he’s not perfect. Passive deadline, Flynn over Bane, and passing on PG and Westbrook for Siakam. Still love him but he has some major misses.
I still believe in the combination of the five starters and the next five and Nick and xx games left. A final third miracle run. I believe too strongly in the top to bottom of the Raptors to not believe. I'm a Nick and Masai believer.

Toronto going lose players and not get nothing in return for being stubborn this wasn't a smart move especially when the NBA has changed the rules about manipulating the salary cap
My concern is with the shooting off the bench, and lack of guards. By adding Poeltl (let's say he averages 30 MPG at C), the other minutes could easily be made up by Siakam sliding over to the 5, Achiuwa, or Boucher. So in my opinion, by adding Poeltl it makes Hernangomez and Thad Young useless. That's why I am confused how Masai either didn't think of this, or wasn't able to turn those players into Guards for our bench (or even future second round picks, since they won't be playing any minutes now). There was no point in holding onto Thad or Juancho. In the past he's been able to trade irrelevant players for picks / bench needs. This year, there was no improvements to the other thing that's lacking, shooting. Yet, he has an interview talking about we need to be a top 3 point shooting team… how?? Is Thad Young gonna drop 3 threes in his 0.45 seconds of garbage time now? I don't get it.

Ibaka destroyed his career when he left. He became a less than bench player. Now he is nothing more more than a practice pilon. His ego was his downfall. He played his best bball in Toronto and gave it up.
Raptors fans want to tank and throw away everything and start over and be like Huston and OKC for 10 years… we been playing without a center since sierge and Marc left, give these guys a chance before we start shipping people smh
we needed a centre since last season. we did nothing and only panic during this trade window. cant wait to see fred leave for nothing hahahahahaha. at least trade him away for a pick and a player is better than nothing
