Embiid said Poeltl was the most underrated Center in the league. 5 seasons learning from Pops and Big Fundamental can only make you better. Disappointed we weren't able to find a Blockbuster trade for Fred or Pascal.
No pls not Serge Ibaka, these players benefitted from the Raptors system , naking them the best player they can be, but soon as some teams offered they took the ist ticket out, and got thrown out of the bus after leaving, dont take them back pls.
When Masai spoke yesterday regarding what the "true values" his Raptors guys are after the trade talk, he quickly realized how "low" Fred's value is. No teams want a late 20's undersized, unathletic and high volume shooting (to get his stats) guard like Fred. He has been very lucky with the Raptors since his rookie days. I expect Fred to be in Dennis Schröder's predicament when he realizes that his value is actually quite low. But honestly, even if we can resign Fred at a similar or even lower price, I would still rather move on from Fred. Let's develop Barnes into a complete PG / point-forward.
I personally think masai did mess up with the trade but I do think he’ll be good for us.
Spurs seem to be a rare valuable long term reliable Trading partner who’ve already helped us secure a championship.
Poeltl deal was no overpay.

brother – look at this percentages they're horrible. He is anything BUT steady, he's got the ability to hit in the clutch that's his best asset. he's not even a fringe star, he's a 6th man/role player best suited to come in off the bench
I’m just glad we didn’t get fleeced for our starters. Always loved Birch all the best to him. I don’t feel we got hosed on the deal, we will see the impact pretty quick

It's not an over pay, but it isn't a good trade, could of had bones and bamba for the same draft compensation, bamba may not be as good as Jacob, but has a higher upside and can pop the three is under contact and younger fitting Barnes timeline, also same could be said of Wiseman as he went for peanuts. But acquiring a center who is good but older and isn't enough to push us into contention was a mistake
Even if there are guys with similar stats…he was once drafted by Toronto and is cool with Siakim…so another guy added that easily gels with the group
Jakob is gonna fit fine I think he will boost the teams morale and energy plus help them make the playoffs
Jakob is 5 years younger and much better than Plumlee. Plumlee can’t guard and he averaged 6 points last year. Spurs weren’t necessarily going to accept that celtics deal anyway
We now have taken our selves out of lottery pick contention this year, which will be our last chance for years to come. We have 0 picks in the 2024 draft (no first rounds, no second rounds). Not putting any young pieces around SB4 can be detrimental to his success. The two picks we sent to SAS have turned into Malachi Branham and Keldon Johnson, cant wait to see who next years pick turns into.
The direction of this team is confusing more now than before, we've lost leverage on trading players when it comes to sign and trades in the summer as teams will know we're in a tighter corner.

I disagree with you there. You cant compare Mo Bamba to Jakob. Jakob fits our team better. He's a better offensive player, passer, shooter, etc. This is definitely the right trade, we didn't overpay. We basically got 13 pt, 10rb and almost 2 blk center for a late 1st round pick and offloaded Birch's contract!
At this point re name the team to the Mediocre Raptors. Since they entered the league its always been that way and its not gonna change. Getting big names in free agency is almost impossible cause players know Toronto is a joke. Anytime they draft a good player they trade him and when we have valuable assests on a sub par team like this year we are always too afraid to make a move. History dont lie and that one ship in 2019 was not our doing it was the spurs who made the move because that player wouldnt play for them. Toronto sports dont care about winning they care about asses in seats and until the fans make noise and refuse to watch a mediocre team its not gonna change.
Poetl is far more likely to re sign here than Plumlee so I do see value in it
I am ok with the trade. We can still trade FV, GTJ, OG and Siakim and look for picks as part of the deals. Seems many teams are really desperate. Most bigs take 2-4 years to develop into an NBA forward/center. They are 18-21 years old and with no muscle. Zion excepted. Forwards are slow to develop and can play into their 30's. Getting Poeltl was fabulous. Now he can train and work with Koloko.

Poetl knows exactly what the raptors are giving up for him and he knows that the raptors are willing to give up a lot and that should mean a lot in terms of signing a longterm deal to a starting 7 foot centre in his prime ( the main missing piece in the raptors)
i bet nobody wanted to give up longterm assets for a guy like fred and so he didnt get traded

Thank goodness you are now all able to see Fred's TRUE value to other teams….Contending teams Fred at best would be a 4/5 off ball option, or for bottom end teams would be a "vet leader" to help young players (which he seems to not be able to do here) either of these types of players do not garner getting a massive haul back in return, especially when he's looking for BIG money (30+ m's). IF, Clippers were willing to trade for FVV, they most likely had no intention of resigning him at 30+ and were just going to use him as a rental. KLow makes 30 and Miami will have to trade a pick to move him now, nobody trying to handcuff themselves to a FVV who looks like the treads are starting to wear off completely.

How are the Raps gonna have enough money and space to pay all these guys? They need to change the team model. There is no point giving all these guys 15-30 million dollar contracts. You need to pay a couple guaranteed winners that money and then give everyone else cap friendly contracts. That’s the recipe for a winning team. We will be stuck in no mans land with those core group of players. Team with FVV and Siakam as their best player will never win a championship.

I think this says less about the raptors move for jak but more about the hornets organization.
Whether Masai was bs'ing at the press conference or not, i agree there is too much talent on this team not to give it another go with a legitimate centre. Scoring isnt as bad as what some fans make it out to be, the pressing issue was not having a centre. Now that we do, other players on the team can focus on scoring and relax now knowing that we have a guy that will do the little things, be an anchor, and clean up the mistakes.

Lol Clippers tried to finesse the Raptors for FVV.. can't fault them for trying to take advantage of the trade now or nothing situation but it was a bad offer for for a borderline allstar. Now FVV will just go to the magic in free agency
Masai watched us and did nothing, now he helps but we won’t win a ring and will most likely miss out on a top #8 draft pick.
FVV is a FA after this season.
GT too and so is Jakob ironically.
Pascal will want another contract upgrade.
He tried to ask too much and in all honesty failed.
Time will tell but I don’t see this being a move that will bear fruits.
