    Updating notes as we go:

    – Dlo was traded for a lot of reasons, financials being a key point with Dlo being a free agent

    – The Wolves didnt want to extend Russell. They didnt believe Gobert and Dlo worked well together on the court.

    – Conley has the chemistry with Gobert. They play very well together

    – Goberts offensive struggles have frustrated several players on the team. Including Russell

    – Jon has completely backed away and is making clear Dlo was NOT toxic, he was not a jerk in the lockerroom unlike Jimmy Butler. He and a lot of players were working through frustrations

    – There was concern about the amount of scoring and mouths to feed. Which is why they wanted a pass first PG

    – It may eventually turn out that the Gobert trade is a disaster, and obviously some already believe so, but he will not be moved. They are all in on Gobert

    – The team wanted to install a vet with good habits and professionalism to rub off on Ant

    – Whilst the defense might not *immediately* improve, it is expected that the defense will be more controlled and disciplined

    – KAT is ramping up. He had a “hard” workout in Memphis. There is no clear timeline but he’ll be back soon. He’s getting closer

    – Jon explains WHY the Dlo information only came out AFTER he left a) because he didnt think it had reached the Jimmy Butler levels. b) every locker-room in major sports has personalities butting heads c) Jon wanted to let them work it through by themselves without pouring gasoline on the fire

pretty obvious the gobert is a disaster but those that made the trade won’t admit it so soon. they’re obviously going to try and save face + attempt to make it work at all costs.

Hot take: Wolves asked JK to walk back the DLo was toxic thing. Hard enough to get free agents you don’t wanna be known as the team that airs out it’s players if it doesn’t work out. Also can’t imagine they want every player being asked about DLo from now until the end of the season.

  4. not sure why the Wolves had concern about there being too many mouths to feed

until KAT gets back all we have for reliable scoring punch is Ant and even then it would just be 2 guys

I think it’s being underrated how critical DLo was to the offense the last 2 months

I feel like Jon isn’t really “walking back” the D’Lo-is-toxic stuff.

He never really said D’Lo was “toxic” he just said it was kind of messy/uncomfortable, which seems fair. D’Lo’s always been pretty well liked by a lot of guys on the roster (Nowell, Jaden, etc. have benefited a lot from D’Lo), so toxic isn’t really a great descriptor. But it’s pretty clear that he didn’t jive with Rudy, and Rudy’s far more important to this team moving forward than D’Lo. It’s also pretty clear that D’Lo and the coaching staff didn’t see eye to eye (which now makes 3 coaching staffs in a row for D’Lo), which is just as important.

The thing I’m most curious about is Ant and D’Lo’s relationship.

The biggest thing I think some people are missing is the journalistic integrity behind not reporting this stuff until D’Lo left the locker room via trade. All of this stuff was said off the record. When D’Lo was saying what he was, he never had microphones or cameras in his face, so there is no obligation to report on it. Jon never called D’Lo toxic. I think he just said what was going on objectively. I also highly doubt the Wolves asked Jon to “walk it back” regarding his comments. That’s stepping on journalism and I just don’t think that happened. I could be wrong but I don’t think the Wolves asked him to.
